What is Your Destination?

Follow your heart

It has always been Taerg’s dream to become someone of importance in his life, someone that will be recognizable in the world for the wonderful and great services, deeds, and a good legacy he has contributed in his community and society in general. Though it took him several years to realize what he really wanted out of life, Taerg’s had so many ideas over a long period of time of what he was going to be or do to see his dream come to pass and actually really live it. Therefore, he pursued several of his ideas and prayed to God several times to give him clarity and direction for his life so that he can be able to live this dream. At this point only God could help him get a breakthrough for there were so many things that were against him including his enemy from within such as doubting if he was ever going to live his dream. There were also so many opportunities that came along for Taerg to pursue, and yes he tried some of them and other he let them pass. But they all came short to what was deep inside him. It was somehow beyond his control because the desires started to pull him closer and closer towards what he has discovered, and he was able to envision it. He really was looking for happiness and to fulfill his thirsty that was within him, and for once he discovered what it is, and the more he pursued it, he knew, he was living his dream, and it became so clear to him. It was finally happening, it was finally here. It took him several years to get here, to know, and finally be and do what he loves. And so he made a plan for himself to achieve his ultimate goal and dream.  He knew it will also take him several more years to see it accomplished in his life, and this is just a beginning.

This is a true story indeed, a true story for many of us.

Life gives us many chances to discover our dreams. And not everybody is going to discover their dreams, gifts, or what they want to do or be when they are very young. Most of us we discover what we really want late in life.

One example is the famous Steve Jobs, one of the great men we know, he once shared about his life that he dropped out of Reed College because he didn’t know what he wanted to do. This is what he said, and I quote; “I was at Reed College for only a few months. My parents intended for me to stay there for all four years, but I decided that College wasn’t right for me. I had no idea what I wanted to do; I didn’t see how College was going to help me.”

Not only him, there are many great and successful people we know who share similar stories, who also had to discover later on in their lives what they wanted to do, or become in life.

Let’s be honest; life is a journey and a puzzle. May be it is a destination, but it is a destination that consists of so many other destinations that you have to keep travelling until you reach that one destination, but only if you know what it is. As long as you don’t know, it is going to remain a journey and a puzzle.

Even after many years have passed, as long as we are still breathing, as simplistic as this may sound, until we know exactly what we want in life, who we want to be, or have destinations that we can say this is where we would like to go, and why we want to go there, we will never arrive.

We are always travelling to some kind of destinations, and we will keep changing our destinations until we can final say, this is it, we have arrived. And if somehow we find out this is not the destination we had expected, or we wanted to go, oops wrong way, and so we make a u-turn, or simply turn around, make a left or right turn. But if we find out it is the destination we have imagined to go, we keep going until we reach there.

May be because life is made that way, and during our life journey we have to pass many life destinations, to figure things out, because there is always something more to pursue, and there is always a purpose God wants us to accomplish.

Even life itself is an evolution kind of thing; where change is a must and necessary. The 20th century will not be the same as the 30th century. And as long as we make progress to reach one destination to another, I think it’s okay, because sometimes, depending on what it is, some things are kind of boring to stay in one destination for a real long-time. As human beings we always want to improve, upgrade, and definitely do not want to be stuck in one stop forever.

There are times in life even though we know or have directions to where we are going, without having a destination in mind, or written somewhere, it’s going to be tough, and there is a chance we are going to end up nowhere. Unless you are runaway person it will make sense, but it will be nice to go somewhere with a destination in mind.

To have a map or plan it’s not enough; you have got to know where you are going, or else the map will not really be useful to you. It will be just some kind of a puzzle that you have to put together in order to figure out your destination.

In the book of John chapter 14 verse 1 to 11 reading from God’s Word Bible translation, it says, “Don’t be troubled. Believe in God, and believe in Me. My Father’s house has many rooms. If that were not true, would I have told you that I’m going to prepare a place for you? If I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again. Then I will bring you into My presence so that you will be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we don’t know where You’re going. So how can we know the way?” Jesus answered him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one goes to the Father except through Me. If you have known Me, you will also know My Father. From now on you know Him through Me and have seen Him in Me.” Philip said to Jesus, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will satisfy us.” Jesus replied, “I have been with all of you for a long time. Don’t you know Me yet, Philip? The person who has seen Me has seen the Father. So how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? What I’m telling you doesn’t come from Me. The Father, who lives in Me, does what He wants. Believe Me when I say that I am in the Father and that the Father is in Me. Otherwise, believe Me because of the things I do.”

Can you imagine someone believing in Jesus and His teachings and applying in his or her life, and still not yet have a destination in mind?

Some of us we know, if we want to go to heaven or encounter God some day, Jesus has made it clear in the Bible that He is the life, and in this case also the journey, the truth, and the way or in other words the direction and the map. Therefore, if you are also looking to know the truth about God, life, us human beings, and heaven, and other things that exist, Jesus can help you.

Here we go; at least you now have a destination in mind, which is heaven, to know God, or to find truth about life. Now, what is left is to find about Jesus.

Please know your destinations may vary, and can be any goal you have to achieve or a dream you have to yet see it come true in your life, or something. The point is that whatever the destination is, it would be great if you have kind of an idea of what it is first, and then spend your time and resources, to find a map of how to get there and reach there.

So, yeah, just like Steve Jobs said in one of his famous quotes, “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.”
