Despise Not Your Small Beginnings

Before I forget, I just want to let you know in the coming months I will be posting twice a week until further notice. I am not disappearing again for a year…hahaha. I just need more time to figure things out.

I started blogging really long time ago. In January 2015, after six years of blogging I finally got tired of not getting results I wanted. I invested so much of my time, but I wasn’t progressing the way I wanted. I had two blogs; one I was blogging through platform, and another was a website actually through platform.

Anyway, while I was working on my New Year’s Resolutions last year in January 2015, I kept praying to God whether I should continue with what I was doing. For a long-time I really enjoyed it, but not until it began to feel like it was my second fulltime job except that I wasn’t getting paid, hahaha, my time is valuable you know. So I decided to take a break to figure things out. I can still remember like it was yesterday. It was the first week in May 2015; we went for one week work-related trip. Each day after meeting with staff members during our meetings and getting together time, I would come back to the hotel room and have a serious thought about everything that was going on in my life at that time. I decided I was going to take a break. When I came back home after that trip, my break started. I even deleted all social media accounts because I wanted to stay away from media exposure too. It was also consuming a lot of my time.

What is interesting though, in May 2016, almost exactly after one year this strong desire came back to me. Then I realized all this time God was preparing me for the opportunities ahead. And I am being given another chance to make my dream come true. So I said, “Why not? God is well able, let’s do this again, but this time we are going to take it slow.”

And I can tell you that this year has been another transforming journey for me. If you asked me in January 2016 that I would start blogging again in May 2016, I would have probably been hesitated, since it was not my intent or part of my 2016 resolutions and goals.

But I am so glad that I made the decision to started blogging again, and you will understand why after you continue reading this. I had no idea what I was going to write, and what I should name my blog this time around. I said you know what, “Let me just use my name and add international to it.” My first four posts I wrote were song-lyrics. And then this idea came, why not writing articles about my experiences. And so I wrote one article, another article, and more articles.

In the beginning usually we start strong with so much energy and eagerness; we work really hard. If you will look at my posts in the month of May 2016, I almost posted every day. But in June 2016 I said, “I have got to slow down.” The entire journey has been some kind of a struggled because I did everything on my own. For example; from May to December 2016, I have already used and changed to three website templates. The current one I am using is my third one to use.

During our small beginnings we often work really hard with little help. During our small beginnings we also face various setbacks that hinder us to work more efficiently. Usually its financial setbacks, maybe to hire professionals and experts in the areas that we are not strong, skilled, and well-equipped, or to create quality products, and so on. Since in our small beginnings we have that determination and energy, it really doesn’t matter because our eagerness to get things done, or see our goals accomplished will push us to keep going to do whatever we can.

Let me tell you my progress so far. Since I started blogging again, I have posted total of 92 posts including this one. Not even one of the posts came from my old writing contents and collections; everything was brand new contents that I wrote from scratch. Actually it should have been a total 96 posts, but I have removed the first 4 posts, four Song-Lyrics. It is because in the beginning I was not really sure I wanted to consistently posting my poetry (Poems and Song-lyrics). I also have re-blogged one post of the children’s book from one of my subscribers and author. I thought the cover of the book was too cute. I have shared three news and updates posts. That leaves me to a total of 88 articles that I have written and posted from May 2016 to today. I-a-m V-e-r-y Grateful.

But I have also started a YouCount Magazine this year. YouCount is the name of my first ever blog I started when I started blogging seven years ago, so it is a special name. In case you are wondering, the meaning behind it is ‘we all count; everything counts, so you count.’

Since I gave up on my dream before, there are times I wonder, ‘what if I didn’t take a break during that one year?’ Perhaps during that one year, I could have given birth to something good, and today I would have been living my dream somehow. Even you, just imagine if you continue on the path you are today, where do you think you will be in eight years?

Sometimes God can open doors that no man can shut. But it doesn’t mean we should always passively wait until the doors to open to take the steps. We can take steps of faith to see whether or not the doors will open for us. For example; when we go to the mall, usually most shops or banks have automatic doors. And these automatic doors will only open after we step forward to enter the shops or banks.

Another example will be, the time when God did something in our lives when we didn’t know it was going to work out, but we believed somehow God will make a way. Sometimes the struggles we are going through are not always meant to stop us, but indications that we are about to give birth to something concerning our dreams and goals.

In the Bible in the book of Matthew chapter 13 reading from verse 31 to 33, the Lord Jesus shared the Parables of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast, and this is what the Bible passage says; “He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” He told them still another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.”

There is nothing small if God is in it! Don’t despise those things in your small beginnings. Don’t despise them at all. Little is very great when God is in it. So do not neglect the days of small beginnings. Every big thing started small. Little can become much when God breathes on it and blesses it. I have also noticed that in life there are going to be some doors of opportunities that will not open unless you begin to do something about the little that you have. So pray to God to help you establish your plans. Commit your plans, dreams, and goals to God.

In the Bible in the book of Zechariah chapter 4 verse 10, it says “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.” Everything big has to start small. Do not despise the days of small beginnings or small things. Don’t look at your minor accomplishments, success, or achievements as insignificant. You don’t know how big they can become. You don’t know who you are impacting. You may not see the fruits right now, but you are probably accomplishing God’s purposes for your life for the now moment. Don’t give up on your goals and dreams.

Take it from Job who is recorded saying in the Bible in the book of Job chapter 8 verse 7 that, “Though your beginning was small, yet your latter end would increase abundantly.”
