One friend of mine one day asked me, “Why do you like to talk about Jesus most of the time?” I was surprised by her question because I didn’t even realized that I talked about Jesus that much, and so I told her, “It must have been because He was on my mind during those times.” We usually speak what is on our minds, what we currently reading, listening, watching, focusing on, and et cetera. Usually our insides reflect our outside. So if you are a courageous person, people will see it on the outside. If you have a victory mindset within you, it would reflect on the outside. So as if you have a victim mindset within you, it would reflect on the outside of you.
There is this phrase or quote by Zig Ziglar that says, “You were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.”
But it has to start in your mind or your mindset, because you have to think about winning first in order to become a winner. You heard it before that ‘thoughts are things; and what you think about you bring about.’ Winners think about winning all the time. Successful people think about being successful constantly. And what they think about reflect from the outside to the point where they go and actually make it happen. Their thoughts become their desires; their desires force them to take action towards their thoughts, and then they develop into habits.
Napoleon Hill said, “Our minds become magnetized with the dominating thoughts we hold in our minds and these magnets attract to us the forces, the people, the circumstances of life which harmonize with the nature of our dominating thoughts.”
Our thoughts are very powerful. According to Napoleon Hill, if we think thoughts of wealth, abundance, and happiness to the point they become our dominating thoughts, more likely those things that we think about will start flowing into our lives. On the other hand, if we continually think about lack, misfortune, strife, our fears, and such things like that, those things would be drawn to us.
In the Bible, in the book of Proverbs chapter 23 verse 7, the Bible says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.” In other words, what we think about, we bring about, because as the scripture says “A man thinks in his heart so does he becomes.”
So, how do you start by changing your thinking, your mindset, but also training your mind to think thoughts that a champion thinks about; thoughts of good and lovely reports, thoughts of praise worthy and love, abundance, happiness, wealth, winning, overcoming, succeeding, and so on?
Well, the way you get rid of your old way of thinking, is by replacing it with a new way of thinking. If you have been having a defeated mindset, constantly thinking that you’ll never be successful, or overcome things, everyone looks like is winning, but not you, then it’s about time to train your mind to think the opposite and different. And the way you replace your old defeated mindset with the new winning mindset is to renew your mind with new way of thinking; so when your mind says you can’t do this, you say ‘yes, I can.’ Or You can a quote a Scripture from Philippians 4:13, ‘I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me.’ When your mind says you are broke, and you are struggling to pay some of your bills, you can quote Philippians 4:19, ‘But my God shall supply all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.’ You can also say affirmations; for instance, ‘money comes to me through expected channels and unexpected channels,’ or ‘the money is in my life just as natural as eating, drinking, and sleeping.’
I have experienced before The Holy Spirit bringing into my remembrance scriptures to help me with my thinking when I needed to remember them. It is even written in the Bible, in the book of John chapter 14 verse 26. In this Bible passage, The Lord Jesus said, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom The Father will send in My Name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
But if you are of different faith or beliefs, in the beginning, write affirmations or positive declarations down somewhere where you can have an easy access to see them, speak them, and remind yourself to think about them.
It’s going to be an ongoing practice. Champions, Winners, Successful people, all of them, they continually learn, practice, and train themselves until they win and succeed. They don’t make excuses; they get up after each fall, and they train, practice, learn more and more until they get it right.
And as we continue to train our minds and transform our mindsets by replacing our old way of thinking and old information with new way of thinking and information, our new thoughts and mindsets will become part of our dominant thoughts.
Pastor Andrew Wommack said, “If our thoughts are dominated by the things of this world then we are going to get worldly results in our lives. We need to focus on God to get godly results.”
In the book of Romans chapter 12 verse 2, it says, “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
For us Christians, we are told to let God transform us into new people by changing the way we think. Therefore, when we make time to read the Bible to know what it says and get understanding of what it says, it will change our way of thinking patterns, and transform our mindsets. When we read the Bible, we get to know more about God and His Will for us, our Christian walk, and also grow spiritually.
We also need to invest in our personal development, or self-improvement education, as much as we do in our professional, career, or business education. We need to read books, articles, go to seminars, trainings, take courses or classes, or listen to teachings, maybe personal growth teachings, Biblical teachings, and other areas of our interests.
Once we get knowledge and get understanding of it then we will know the right way of thinking. After that we need to start training ourselves by replacing our old thinking with our new thinking. For us to become champions, and living victorious, successful lives, it all starts in our minds, and in our mindsets because what we think about we bring about. And when our thinking begin to change, our lives will begin to change also.
