So, there is a secret to success after all, and according Pastor John C. Maxwell, the secret is found in your daily routine.

I have done my research and found out that there are few things that most successful people do not waste their time and energy on, and money for. This is what Tyler Perry said about how he became a Millionaire;

  • Make a plan and raise your standards.
  • Immediately, start a business and duplicate it worldwide.
  • Stop wasting time on TV, games, or dumb stuff. If a person doesn’t have a plan, then move on.
  • Figure out a way to make $1000, $2000, $5000, etc weekly. Save 40% of what you make and invest it.
  • Stop buying stuff that have no value; cars, clothes, jewelries, etc.
  • Education. Read, read, read books on the greatest people. Self-educate yourself. Learn something new daily.
  • Stop eating bad food. Eat organic only. Bad food changes your brain chemistry.

We all have daily routines. Some of us when we wake up every morning we know exactly what we are going to do, and during what time every day. And that is a good thing. It gets better though, when our daily routines incorporate things that can propel and enable us to live successful and somewhat balanced lives.

Now, we are different. Some people work best, or are more active in the morning, other not so. Some people work in rotating shifts. For some people, when the rest are sleeping, they will be working in night shifts. So, our routines depend on the lifestyles we live. The things that some people apply in their morning routines, you can still incorporate them anytime you want to fit your lifestyle.

I have come up with few recommended things we can include into our daily routines that can change our lives. If we start today to incorporate them in our lives, in few years later perhaps our lives will change for better.

SPIRIT

We will start with this area, because it is important for our well-being. We need to connect to the higher power and inner being for guidance, comfort, peace, well-being, and so on. You can do all the following, or you can pick one to customize your perfect daily routine.

  • Intent Prayer

This is the most important area of our lives, especially for those of us who believe in the most Highest God. Even though morning is the best time to commit ourselves and our days to God, and to seek for guidance, but we don’t have to pray only in the morning; we can also pray more than one time throughout the day. One  benefit we get whenever we pray; it gives us peace that transcends all understanding just because we were able to connect with God through prayers.

  • Meditation

People meditate for different reasons: to feel calm, to diminish stress or pain, to get through a crisis, to connect with nature, and more. We all need silence at some point to be able to take a moment once a day to empty our noisiest thoughts, and reflect on precious things we forget to embrace about life, nature, and God. Meditation gives us opportunity to sit quietly, to relax, take a deep breath, to listen to our inner voice, or to think about important things and decisions.

MIND

The battle is on our minds. Our minds are our battlefields, therefore it is important to invest on our minds. If you want to improve your life, begin then by improving your mindset and doing the things that can help improve your mindset. You can pick the following to start including into your daily routine.

  • Reading

Reading is the best exercise for your mind and it has been made easy because nowadays you can read articles, books, magazines, and etc, through your phone. As Tyler Perry said, ‘successful people educate themselves.’ They invest towards their personal education and growth. They research, study, and make time to learn something new every day. They read books, inspiring and teachable articles, specific reports, or magazines such as Entrepreneur, Success, Forbes, YouCount, Time, and so on. They take courses, attend seminars, and trainings. You can come with a simple plan for instance; to read one chapter of a book in your area of interest every day, or three pages every day, or read for 20 minutes whatever you can read, an article a day, and so forth. You can also read twice a day. I usually read the Bible and maybe something else. So, reading twice a day works well for me.

  • Listening or Watching

With the power of technology, we now have tons of free online materials for personal education. YouTube has a library of free inspirational, motivational, and teaching video channels, podcasts, and live streams for all kinds of topics and subjects. You can even get free audio books of great authors, influencers, and successful people. You can also subscribe to free podcasts on your phone, iPad, or tablet about all kinds of interest and subjects that you may want to listen and learn. But then, you can buy teaching or inspirational CD’s, audio books, or MP3 downloads, and listen at home, in your car, in the train, as you walk, etc. The technology era has made easy to acquire knowledge and self-educate ourselves.

  • Affirmations

I don’t  know about you; sometimes you need to boost yourself and your energy up. Sometimes we all need a pep talk. Positive affirmations can give us that boost to be able to feel more courageous and enthusiastic. You can create your own list of positive affirmations to encourage, inspire, motivate, and remind yourself of what you are capable of, or what you can become, or what can be. You can also affirm about your goals and dreams, why you want to achieve those goals, and why you deserve them. Every morning, afternoon, or evening; take your list of affirmations, while standing or sitting in front of the mirror, say aloud your affirmations.

  • Visualization

Make time to visualizing your dreams, goals, or plans, and seeing yourself living to your full potential. You can do this while you are going through your positive affirmations and reviewing your goals and plans because most of the time they are directly linked together. Visualize and imagine that you are accomplishing and achieving your plans, and are moving toward your end goals.

  • Journaling

Journaling is a good daily exercise or routine to capture your daily thoughts, ideas, lessons learned, even your emotions. One of the many things why journaling is something that you should do daily is that journaling can tell a lot about you that you didn’t know, or you may not be aware of. When you look back to what you have been journaling, you will be amazed by what you have been thinking, learning, finding, concentrating, and so on. Myself, I am not interested in journaling every detail of what’s happening in my life every day, but I am more consistent capturing my highlights for each day, things that I am grateful for.

BODY

Our bodies are our temples, and not just us, but also the temple of the Holy Spirit of God who resides within us in a spiritual realm. So, our bodies are important to take care of. I am not a nutritionist, personal trainer, or bodybuilder, and et cetera, but its common sense that body fitness and eating healthy is good for our body.

  • Exercise

You can hire a personal trainer, or join a gym, or yoga class. You can also workout by yourself at home through 15 to 30 minutes workout videos and programs. Not only that, you can go for a brisk walk, or decide to jog every day, or dancing, and whatever will work for you. Experts say that making time for body movement is important to boost our metabolism, mental clarity, but also improve our blood circulation and other numerous benefits like building and strengthen our body muscles and help us look and be physical fit.

  • Water Intake

This one actually is for me. I need to start drinking more water every day. According to OneMedical.com , their article ‘Quirky Questions: Do I really need to drink 8 glasses of water a day?’, it says that the Institute of Medical (IOM) recommends a total daily water intake: 3.7 liters (15 cups) for the average adult male and 2.7 liters (11 cups) for the average adult female. But also we need to keep in mind that water needs vary tremendously by individual, and are dependent on numerous factors such as activity level, geographic location, and temperature. So, more water intake maybe required in some occasions, or locations for some individuals.

  • Take vitamins

For those of us who are lazy to cook, or do not have time to prepare healthy meals for ourselves and basically eat healthy food, we can at least start taking multi-vitamins every day. For me adult chewable multivitamins are the best option, because I can’t handle big pills. I know…not a good example from someone who used to be a certified pharmacy technician.

  • Eat more fruits

Not only some fruits taste so good, and but fruits are good for our health. I love fruits, not all of them, but most of them, and I make sure I eat fruits, or at least one fruit every day. I like fruits because we don’t have to cook them; all we have got to do is grab it, maybe cut it, and start eating it.

  • Drink tea

You know this was going to be on the list…hahaha. According to Dilmah School of Tea, their article ‘Importance of Tea’  it mentioned, research has found that the antioxidants in green and black tea are much greater than the levels found in fruits and vegetables. It is said that two cups of tea are equivalent to five portions of fruit or vegetables, in antioxidant capacity. And I have to agree, tea is one of those beverages that not only is healthy for us to drink, but it can reduce our stress, relaxes us, and at the same time delight us.

Those are just the few things that we can incorporate and start including into our daily routines. They look like a lot, but believe it or not, there are people who do almost all these things mentioned above on daily basis. They make time for them, because they know these things will improve their lives.
