May God Help Us to See and Think Outside the Box

Let’s start by reading the book of Mark chapter 8 verses 11 to 26:

Pharisees Demand a Miraculous Sign

When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had arrived, they came and started to argue with Him. Testing Him, they demanded that He show them a miraculous sign from heaven to prove His authority. When He heard this, He sighed deeply in His spirit and said, “Why do these people keep demanding a miraculous sign? I tell you the truth, I will not give this generation any such sign.” So He got back into the boat and left them, and He crossed to the other side of the lake.

Yeast of the Pharisees and Herod

But the disciples had forgotten to bring any food. They had only one loaf of bread with them in the boat. As they were crossing the lake, Jesus warned them, “Watch out! Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and of Herod.” At this they began to argue with each other because they hadn’t brought any bread.

Jesus knew what they were saying, so he said, “Why are you arguing about having no bread? Don’t you know or understand even yet? Are your hearts too hard to take it in? ‘You have eyes—can’t you see? You have ears—can’t you hear?’ Don’t you remember anything at all? When I fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?” “Twelve,” they said. “And when I fed the 4,000 with seven loaves, how many large baskets of leftovers did you pick up?” “Seven,” they said. Don’t you understand yet?” He asked them.

Jesus Heals a Blind Man

When they arrived at Bethsaida, some people brought a blind man to Jesus, and they begged Him to touch the man and heal Him. Jesus took the blind man by the hand and led Him out of the village. Then, spitting on the man’s eyes, He laid His hands on him and asked, “Can you see anything now?” The man looked around. “Yes,” he said, “I see people, but I can’t see them very clearly. They look like trees walking around.” Then Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes again, and his eyes were opened. His sight was completely restored, and he could see everything clearly. Jesus sent him away, saying, “Don’t go back into the village on your way home.”

The Bible has amazing stories, and one thing I see when I read the Bible is that God is an extraordinary strategist. Truly, His strategies are over the top. God can make a way for you that you never thought it was possible. His ways are higher than our ways. He is the most top-notch strategist. Sometimes what God uses to answer our prayers can be different depending on our faith, circumstances, situations, needs, problems, etc. That’s why when you are expecting God to answer your prayers, don’t try to put everything in the box. The quality of an extraordinaire is to think and act outside the box.

If you read this Bible passage is that the most common reason we cannot think outside of the box is that most of us we cannot see or comprehend things until God makes us be able to see what He sees. The first example is Jesus’ amazement over why His disciples were arguing about having no bread, and forgot all the miracles He had done while He was with them. I like the way He asked them and the way they answered to remind them. “When I fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread, how many baskets of leftovers did you pick up afterward?” “Twelve,” they said. “And when I fed the 4,000 with seven loaves, how many large baskets of leftovers did you pick up?” “Seven,” they said. Don’t you understand yet?” He asked them.” The disciples had eyes that could see, but they still couldn’t comprehend things. They needed Jesus to help them see what had just happened, and recognized Who was with them.

But another story is different. This man was blind by sight. The first time The Lord Jesus touched him, he was able to see, but his sight was not clear. The passage says, “He saw people, but he couldn’t see them very clearly. They looked like trees walking around.” So, The Lord Jesus touched him again for the second time, and this second time around he was able to see clearly.

Some of us we have sight, but we just can’t comprehend things. Our camera lenses are totally out of focus. We take pictures that only continue to confuse us. We need God’s help to shift our focus, so that we can see clearly. We need clarity to be able to find what we are looking for. Our visions need clarity. Our goals and dreams need clarity.

Some of us opportunities are right in front of us, but we just can’t see them. We are distracted by the chaos of our daily lives and problems. We complain about our spouses, our children, our jobs, our bosses, our financials, but we just don’t know that we are far much better if we have to compare with others. We keep asking God, please open doors for us, and He is probably amazed by us and says, “I just did, can’t you see it?” Therefore we need to be touched again by God’s grace so that we can see the open doors and opportunities in front of us.

I don’t know about you, I need God to help me see. I have wells that need to be filled. We all have wells that need to be filled. Some of us our businesses have no projects, so businesses can’t run; we need business ideas and insights, we need to get creative soon, or else business will be closed. Some of us our dreams and goals are stuck; we lack different kinds of resources to continue with our plans. Therefore we need breakthroughs. And if we can’t see the opportunities in front us, we will remain to be stuck. With God there is always a way to find our answers and solutions to our business and personal problems, or circumstances. etc. The Lord Jesus said in the book of Matthew chapter 7 verses 7 and 8; “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.”

Some of us we stumbled upon other people’s wells. We want to have our own. We want our own spouses, businesses, institutions, jobs, projects, and so on. Some of us are writers and authors. We know a paragraph is not enough; it’s too shallow for us. We want chapters so that we can write stories, books, and movies scripts. But we are stuck. We need God’s help to see, and to make a way.

Most of us need the spirit of discernment to see the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ. This is especially for those of us who are interested. The Lord Jesus said in the Bible, “He is the Light of the world.” I am interested to know about His Light. I mean, that’s just me, and my interests. Some people searching for truth does not interest them. We all have several interests in life. So like you, one of my interests is to know God and The Lord Jesus Christ He has sent (John 17:3).

Some of us we honestly have no clue of what we really want in life. We neither have dreams nor goals. We don’t know what’s wrong with us. We just know things are not right. We want to succeed like our mates, friends, and colleagues. Things need to be changed, and we don’t even know how to start looking, or take that first step. We have sights but we can’t even see the trees. Perhaps we look on wrong things, or the trees are too long for us to see or reach right now.

Some of us we know what the Bible says, in the book of Proverbs chapter 3 verses 5 and 6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take,” but we are still not sure whether we have made right decisions, we also do not have clarity whether if we are on right track.

Some of us we need help to continue to be more aware of our gifts and talents God has placed in us so that we can full use of our gifts and abilities now. There are those of us who just need to see things better. And we need God’s help to touch us again, and bless us to be able to build better marriages, relationships, families, professions, careers, businesses, reputations, legacies, visions, and et cetera.

Those above are few examples that show sometimes we need God’s help to see so that we could think and act outside our boxes.
