Whether you are running a business or on the process of starting one, in no particular order, there are eight tips that can help you accomplish your goals. These tips can work on both your personal and professional goals.
You have got to have a vision. A vision for your life, a vision for your business. Having a vision will provide a direction for you. You have got to know the core of your business. When you know what your business is about, what is it you want to do, it will be like an anchor for you to help you stay focused so that when people try to give you advices you will be able to know, what advice you should or shouldn’t take. When other opportunities will come to you and your business, your vision will help you to identify what will work for you, or won’t work for you. Basically, your vision will help you stick to your guns.
2. Team work
John C. Maxwell said, “Teamwork makes the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream and a bad team.” No man alone is an island entire of itself. Even in sole proprietorship, you still need people to accomplish some of your projects, and business objectives or goals. There will come time eventually you will need help in order to grow your business. You can decide to outsource some of the projects and tasks, or to build your own good team to help you with your business. Take it from Mother Theresa, “You can do what I cannot do. I can do what you cannot do. Together we can do great things.” Isn’t amazing for instance when it comes to marriage when you pray to God to bring you a partner, and He may bring someone who has strengths in things that you have weaknesses in, and what you have strengths in, they are weak in those areas? So when you become one, you complement each other perfectly. Call it ‘opposite attraction,’ hahaha. So team work is very important.
This is a spiritual and universal principle. It works for all religions and beliefs, not just Christians, hahaha. Everybody believes in something. So believe in yourself and believe in your business, your mission, your brand, and what you are trying to accomplish. When you believe in yourself, what you are doing, and what you are trying to accomplish, other people are going to believe in you, in your business, your mission, and your brand as well. You can’t convince someone to buy in something that you do not believe in. I mean, it may work for a short while, but not always. So believe you can do it what you want to do. Believe you can accomplish your goals and dreams. Believe you are making a good impact on someone’s life.
4. Invest in yourself
Use all tools around you to make what you want a reality. Be resourceful when it comes to investing in yourself and your business. Whether is buying books, attending seminars, subscribing in specific magazines, browsing on internet to read articles, watching and listening to teaching messages of your subjects of interest. Through the internet you can get several resources to help you accomplish your goals. Literally you can find almost any information on Google search engine.
In the book of Proverbs chapter 27 verse 17, it says “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Network with like-minded people. It’s important to being surrounded by like-minded individuals like yourself. Smart people know that they don’t know everything, hahaha. Step out of your comfort zone and put yourself out there and start connecting and networking with like-minded people. People who have been where you are trying to go. People who are hungry for what you are hungry for.
6. Write everything down
Maybe not all, but almost everything. If you are like me, this is very important for you because inspiration could come anytime from anywhere. Write everything down; your goals, plans, daily to do tasks, your shopping list, and so on. Get yourself a special notebook to brain-dump your ideas and write down your thoughts, your doubts, hahaha. Write down everything so you know your goals or your aspirations. But also write down your obstacles and struggles, and when you find solutions for some of them, write them down too. Whatever you write down today can help you later on. We are humans and we tend to forget things sometimes. And the beauty of writing all down is to remind ourselves and refresh our memories of what we know, what we want to accomplish, where we are heading, and et cetera.
7. Be brave
They say, “There is no risk without reward.” Well, I don’t know if that’s totally true, not all the time. One thing I know though is that even your failures have their own rewards. And the rewards can come as a gain of experience, perspective, and knowledge. Therefore, when your project fails, don’t see it as a failure. See it as an opportunity for you to learn and grow. Even our failures can teach us great lessons. So take risks. Do not let fear stop you from pursuing your dreams and goals. If you have an idea, it’s better to just jump and do it so that you won’t have any regrets later on for not trying.
8. Stay in your lane
Don’t get consumed by your competition and trying to copy everything they are doing and every business strategy they use. Go with what works for you and your business. Look at business as an airport. Everybody has a destination. We may be on the same airplane, maybe even happen to be sitting next to each other, but it doesn’t mean we are heading to the same exact destination. And that’s how you should see it when it comes to business and some things about life; there is a room for all of us. So do not get consumed with your competition. Stay in your lane. Seat on your chair, and be great at it. Improve yourself, be a trailblazer.
