Greatness comes with a lot of responsibilities. It takes a lot to be great; therefore it takes the right mindset, attitude, and heart to be great. There is this one outstanding distinguishable character and trait that I have learned about most great people; they usually are considerate of others; for the people and for the good cause. Even though it’s possible, but it will be hard to become one of the great if your heart, mindset, and attitude are not set and aligned to seek for the wellbeing of others.
We all know that sometimes our selfishness side can become a hindrance for us to fulfill the Will of God in our lives in several occasions. I don’t know about you, but I have learned that in those days were I was more willing to yield to the Holy Spirit of God promptings I was able to control my selfishness and became more considerate of others. If God is involved in your life journey, it’s possible to live your life in a way that you are able to minimize the self, to replace the ‘me, myself, and I,’ with ‘we, us, and together.’ It may not be easy but it’s possible.
There are two qualities that can help us set and align ourselves to seek for the wellbeing of others. We all need the help of the Holy Spirit of God to empower us with these two qualities to make life easier for us. Because truth of the matter is that we all have been called by God to love one another. And one way to love another is to seek the wellbeing of that individual, to wish good for that individual.
We need the spirit of servant hood. Learn from Martin Luther King Jr. who was quoted as saying, “Everyone has the power for greatness, not for fame but greatness, because greatness is determined by service.” First, we learn that you can be great, and still not famous, but also just because you are famous, it doesn’t mean you are great.” You want to be great; then serve.
