Three Systems That Can Help Change Our Lives

It’ almost Christmas, one of the most wonderful time of the year. I love Christmas guys. I love everything about Christmas. I love Christmas movies, songs, and its atmosphere. I love what it presents and all about. I love what it reminds us of; about love and the best and simple pleasures in life.

I would like to share three systems that can help change our lives. They are for those who want to improve their lives. You don’t really have to be knocking the doors of greatness to adapt these ones. I mean, if you want just to make your life easier, and you look forward to everyday, then they are for you.

  • Accountability System

In the Bible in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 4 verses 9 to 12, it says, “Two can accomplish more than twice as much as one, for the results can be much better.  If one falls, the other pulls him up; but if a man falls when he is alone, he’s in trouble. Also, on a cold night, two under the same blanket gain warmth from each other, but how can one be warm alone? And one standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer; three is even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

The Bible says two is always better than one. I truly believe in self-accountability, but I also think it’s always better to have accountability partners. I have been reminded by this recently each time I do my work out sessions at home because it would be nice to have someone to workout with every day. But sometimes we may have different interests and schedules and so it makes it a little bit hard to get the convenient that you want. But I’m getting used to it every day though. I have picked fun and interesting workout programs (see below as an example) that make me excited to do them alone every day.

But having an accountability partner or partners can really help especially in those days when we feel unmotivated. It’s easy to get discouraged, so accountability can help us keep in check. Our accountability partners can help us get into the right mindset when we feel awkward.

Not everyone can afford to hire a personal assistant…hahaha, so you have to figure out those people to help you be accountable. If you know someone who is trying to accomplish goals that you are also trying to accomplish, ask them if you can become accountable for each other. So surround yourself with people who can help you keep in check.

You need to get the support you need in order to reach towards your goals and progressing well. And accountability is one of those things can help you change your life.

  • Revising System

It’s important to reassess yourself and evaluate your progress. It’s kind of hard to notice that you are making a real progress if you don’t review your goals and check in with yourself. You need to evaluate your progress so that you can keep doing what works well and stop doing that just don’t work for you.

Many of us we are very good in creating and setting goals, and trying to implementing them into our lives, but we never bother to review them and evaluate our progress. Usually by the end of the year we realize we haven’t achieved many of our goals and instead of reviewing and evaluating what happened, how come we didn’t achieve them, we either carry them over to the next year expecting to use the same strategy hoping for different results.

But the fact is that if next year we don’t do something different to change the outcome of our goals and their results, then basically nothing really is going to change. There is this saying “Nothing change unless you change.” Therefore, if you want your progress to change, then something has got to change. So don’t continue with the same strategy all over again and expect to achieve different results.

In some organizations and companies each year they would conduct program review meetings and events where employees would come to discuss and review the entire year work objectives, and whether they have achieved them, what were the best practices, how to move forward, and then they will create new targets and objectives for the next year.

You may not be an organization or company, but that should not stop you to program review yourself…hahaha. So reassess your goals and yourself each week, month, quarter, or year. If you think one month is just a shorter period to reassess yourself, then do it every quarter, and so on.

  • Rewarding system

Nothing can motivate you than seeing that you are improving. And what a better reminder than the actual celebration…hahaha. A rewarding system compliments and completes the whole process of approving of what you have accomplished. That’s why there are such words as bonuses, raise, promotion, congratulations, and et cetera. Such words relate to celebration and rewards for something.

Don’t forget to reward yourself. Give yourself a pat on the back after you have accomplished each milestone. In fact I would like to congratulate myself right now, as of today I have written and posted 194 articles, but also recorded and posted 36 episodes and podcasts on my website. And the most amazing thing I am proud of is for being able to be consistent with my progress. Sometimes you can be persistent, but not really consistent. This week you post once a week, next week twice a week, and so on. So I am grateful for being able to consistently posting three times a week on my website. I’m proud because consistency is one of the key foundations you need to make to become successful in achieving your goals.

So don’t forget to reward yourself. There is nothing wrong to celebrate yourself and what you have accomplished so far, and to tell yourself “Good job or well done.” Organizations and companies spend some of their funds to reward their employees for their contributions especially the top performers to motivate them to continue to work harder and smarter, so that they can bring more value to these organizations and companies.

Therefore, we can also reward ourselves. Achieving some of our goals is not an easy thing. So when we are able to achieve them, even if it’s just the milestone and not the complete goal, it’s something to be celebrated about. Truth is you have worked hard and you deserve at least a pat on your shoulder.
