We Need God’s Help

I have noticed that there are a few creatives that I have come to know their work, they have stopped doing and pursuing what they have started. I visited their sites and I wondered what happened. I understand that life happens, and a lot have happened last year all over the world to contribute for some to give up on pursing their dreams and goals.

It’s really not easy, at least for some of us, to achieve our goals and dreams, and live them. Many times we have to fight to make them happen by being committed to them, being ambitious and determined enough, and by taking massive actions as well as trying different strategies and approaches. But in a real world, so many things can be going on that we will need more help, especially from God. We will reach a point that we can only do what we can do, but in order to move further and forward, we need God’s help. We need to rely on God’s assistance for our lives.

I know I have already talked about the importance of praying for our dreams and goals. You can read more about it on “Prayer Covering Your Plans” and “Check With The Master.” Well, this is a continuation of what I have already been sharing, but with more information and more perspective.

There is this poem called “Thinking” by Walter Wintle and it says;

If you think you are beaten, you are
If you think you dare not, you don’t,
If you like to win, but you think you can’t
It is almost certain you won’t.

If you think you’ll lose, you’re lost
For out of the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow’s will
It’s all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are
You’ve got to think high to rise,
You’ve got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life’s battles don’t always go
To the stronger or faster man,
But soon or late the man who wins
Is the man who thinks he can!

I guess to paraphrase it, like Henry Ford has been quoting saying, “Whether you think you can or whether you think you can’t, you’re right.”

I mean, I like both this poem and quote; they are positive, motivating, and inspiring. They teach us about believing in ourselves and the importance of nurturing the state of our minds. They talk about self-will, which is great. Because self-will is powerful, having the determination to succeed no matter what is powerful, and how we view ourselves and our capabilities is powerful. Having self-confidence and to believe we too we can succeed, is powerful. All of these are key ingredients to success. It starts with us; from within us, our inner world, and then it manifest to the outside of us. Basically what we think about, we will bring about, and according to our faith, it will be done to us.

But that’s only one part of the equation. In the real world I have been living, I need God to intervene in my life. I realized about this after I discovered that not everyone struggle in life like I did and still do…hahaha. Self-will is great, it has its importance when it comes to achieving something, but it doesn’t work all the time. The race is no longer to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, but to the helped.

In the Bible in the book of Ecclesiastes chapter 9 verse 11 reading from New Living Bible translation, it says that “I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”

You have got to involve God in your life and your plans if you don’t want to be laboring in vain. There are some people who don’t work hard as much as we do, but fortune and good tidings by chance find them. Their mindsets had the part to do with their success, but also I truly believe it has to be God, Who maybe as a way to answering their prayers played a major part for their good results, or maybe because He just decided by His goodness to be good to them and favoring them.

I don’t know why some people have these notions that rich and wealthy people don’t pray. I think some of them do even when they may not show it or share in public about their faith.

There is this story in the Bible about king Solomon, and it says that God appeared to him in a dream and offered to give him anything, but king Solomon, however, requested to be given “an understanding heart” so that he could fulfill his responsibilities as king over all of Israel. And it looks like God was very impressed of his selfless request, and rewarded king Solomon for more than he asked Him for.

In the book of 1Kings chapter 3 verses 3 to 15, reading from New Life Bible version, it records “Now Solomon loved the Lord. He walked in the laws of his father David. But he gave gifts and burned special perfume on different altars. The king went to give a gift on the altar in worship at Gibeon, for that was where the most important altar was. Solomon gave a thousand burnt gifts on that altar. The Lord came to Solomon in a special dream in Gibeon during the night. God said, “Ask what you wish Me to give you.” Then Solomon said, “You have shown great loving-kindness to Your servant David my father because he was faithful and right and good and pure in heart before You. And You have kept for him this great and lasting love. You have given him a son to sit on his throne this day. Now, O Lord my God, You have made Your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child. I do not know how to start or finish. Your servant is among Your people which You have chosen. They are many people. There are too many people to number. So give Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people and know the difference between good and bad. For who is able to judge Your many people?” It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. God said to him, “You have asked this, and have not asked for a long life for yourself. You have not asked for riches, or for the life of those who hate you. But you have asked for understanding to know what is right. Because you have asked this, I have done what you said. See, I have given you a wise and understanding heart. No one has been like you before, and there will be no one like you in the future. I give you what you have not asked, also. I give you both riches and honor. So there will be no king like you all your days. And if you walk in My ways and keep My Laws and Word as your father David did, I will allow you to live a long time.” Solomon awoke, and saw it was a dream. He came to Jerusalem and stood before the Lord’s special box of the agreement. There he gave burnt gifts and peace gifts, and made a special supper for all his servants.”

The Bible also says it is God Who gives the increase. In the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 3 verses 6 to 7, Apostle Paul said, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God Who gives the increase. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor.”

I mean, I don’t know whether all increase come from God. But The Lord Jesus said you will know them by their fruits; godly actions are different from ungodly actions. Like the Lord Jesus said in Luke chapter 7 verse 35, “Wisdom is justified by all her children.” Another translation says, “Wisdom is shown to be right by the lives of those who follow it.” You can have knowledge and not know how to use it, because wisdom is the ability to use and act on the knowledge you know.

I truly believe that God wants us to succeed in life, in all our endeavors, because He gets the glory through us. God wants us to be a blessing so that we can become blessings to each other, so that the wealth and riches can flow to us and through us.

And it will be given to us according to our faith. So if we believe He is a limitless God, He can give us above all we can ask or think. In the book of Ephesians chapter 3 verse 20 to 21 it says, “Now to Him Who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.”

God searches our hearts, and if our motives are for good, then we might as well enlarge our prayer requests. In the book of Hebrews chapter 4 verse 16, it says, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Another translation says, “Let us go with complete trust to the throne of God. We will receive His loving-kindness and have His loving-favor to help us whenever we need it.”

There are things in life only through God’s help we can only receive, and be able to overcome and achieve in this life. Therefore, we should pray. We need help from God to truly succeed in life and fulfill our purposes in life. We need help from God in order to advance. We need help to make progress in every area of our lives. To move to our next level we need help from God. We need help from God to simplify our lives.

And like I mentioned earlier, I have seen a few of creatives that I have visited their sites who have stop doing what they have started a few years ago, some last year, and etc. Not only we need to overcome them, but we need to speak to our mountains. There are these declarations I got a year ago and I forgot the name of the site I got from, that I have been declaring as part of my prayers to God. I feel like sharing them as a gift to you today. Us born-again Christians, we believe there is power in the Name of Jesus. If you come from a different faith, it is my hope you may find them to help you as well.
