Remain in His Teachings | The Word of GOD

You know, sometimes things happen to a person innocently and when the damage has already been done to an innocent person who does not deserve it, over and over again, there is nothing you can do but to forgive and move on. Because of the bigness of the damage, only God can vindicate it rightly in depth.

One thing I have learned through the Lord Jesus on how to deal with the critics, is to make no reply, and if it’s a spam email, don’t even waste your time to delete it so that the invisible arrows they threw to you go straight back to them.

The Bible records that when the Lord Jesus was accused by the chief priests and the elders, He gave no answer. In the book of Matthew chapter 27 verse 13 and 14, it says “Then Pilate asked Him, “Don’t You hear the testimony they are bringing against You?” But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.”

There are times we don’t need to waste our energies to deal with our critics and contenders. Who has got time to deal with unrewardable battles? I rather go and have a cup of tea, and read something or watch a movie. If you are a confident man or woman and you are confident of your criticism show yourself with your real name deal with it like a real confident man or woman.

Sometimes I wonder; wouldn’t it be nice for God to do to our secret critics and contenders immediately what they wish to happen to us each time? That would be nice; we would all learn to be good to each other, and this world we live in would even become more of a better place every day. But the Bible says in the book of Psalm chapter 145 verse 8 that “The Lord is merciful and compassionate, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.”

Even the Lord’s prayer says “We should forgive others so that we may also be forgiven of our trespasses by our Heavenly Father.” The Lord Jesus said we should pray  like this: “‘Our Father in heaven, Your name is holy. May Your holy nation come. What You want done, may it be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us the bread we need today.  Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not let us be tempted, but keep us from sin. Your nation is holy. You have power and shining-greatness forever. Let it be so.’”

Truth is that none of us is perfect; we are all short of God’s glory. In the book of Romans chapter 3 verses 21 to 23, it says “But now God has made another way to make men right with Himself. It is not by the law. The law and the early preachers tell about it. Men become right with God by putting their trust in Jesus Christ. God will accept men if they come this way. All men are the same to God. For all men have sinned and have missed the shining-greatness of God.”

So the best way to handle criticism sometimes is to do God’s way; forgive our critics and contenders, move on, and leave all the bitterness and burdens at the feet of the Lord Jesus. All is well.

We are continuing with our series on the importance of the Word of God. The Bible records through prophet Hosea in the book of Hosea chapter 4 verse 6 the Lord said that “My people are destroyed because they lack knowledge of Me. Because you rejected that knowledge, I will reject you as a priest for Me. Since you forget the law of your God, I will also forget your children.” Another Bible translation says “My people are being destroyed because they don’t know Me. Since you priests refuse to know Me, I refuse to recognize you as My priests. Since you have forgotten the laws of your God, I will forget to bless your children.”

When we read and study the Word of God, the Bible scriptures, we get to know God and what pleases Him. One of the ways you can spend quality time with God regularly, to know Him, is by spending time reading the Bible regularly. The Bible is not a regular book; it’s a life changing book. It can connect you with your Creator in a way you never thought possible. Not only that there are keys to God’s Kingdom found in the Bible. as you read it, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of the Lord, the Living God, will speak to you, and open your understanding as you continually keep reading it.

In the book of Matthew chapter 11 verses 28 to 30, the Bible records that the Lord Jesus said “Come to Me, all of you who work and have heavy loads. I will give you rest. Follow My teachings and learn from Me. I am gentle and do not have pride. You will have rest for your souls. For My way of carrying a load is easy and My load is not heavy.”

The Amplified Bible version says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation]. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls. For My yoke is easy [to bear] and My burden is light.”

Good News Bible translation says, “Come to Me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke and put it on you, and learn from Me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light.”

So the Lord Jesus said, we should come to Him and learn of Him. He is gentle and humble in heart, and we will find rest for our souls, hearts, and lives from the burdens and heavy loads we have been carrying. For His way of carrying a load is easy, and the load He will put on us is light for our situations and circumstances.

How do we learn of Him? By studying His Word. By reading the Bible and spending time with Him and following His teachings. When we do that He will give us the keys and revelation concerning life and rest for our burdens, loads that we have been carrying.

The Word of God is powerful. Apostle Paul compared it to the double-edged sword. He said in the book of Hebrews chapter 4 verse 12, “For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”

The Word of God can correct you and deliver you. The Word of God gives you life, but the same time destroys the things that are not of and from God. You know one Word from the mouth of God can clean you, heal you, comfort you, bring light to your problems and situations, and transform your entire life.

In the book of John chapter 15 verses 3 and 4, the Lord Jesus said “You are already clean because of the Word which I have given you [the teachings which I have discussed with you]. Remain in Me, and I [will remain] in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself without remaining in the vine, neither can you [bear fruit, producing evidence of your faith] unless you remain in Me.” Another translation says “You are already clean because of what I have told you. Live in Me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in Me.”

The Bible also says in Psalm chapter 107 verses 20 and 21, “He sent His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!”

The Bible says in Psalm chapter 1 verses 1 to 3, “Happy is the man who does not walk in the way sinful men tell him to, or stand in the path of sinners, or sit with those who laugh at the truth. But he finds joy in the law of the Lord and thinks about His law day and night. This man is like a tree planted by rivers of water, which gives its fruit at the right time and its leaf never dries up. Whatever he does will work out well for him.”

The Amplified Bible translation says “Blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked [following their advice and example], nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit [down to rest] in the seat of scoffers (ridiculers). But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law [His precepts and teachings] he [habitually] meditates day and night. And he will be like a tree firmly planted [and fed] by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season; its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers [and comes to maturity].”

God can reveal revelation and knowledge concerning Him, life, how to prosper in this life, what to do in your situations facing you, ideas to business ventures, how to get out of bondage; we call them keys to God’s Kingdom. He can speak to us through His Word and teachings. When you spend time in His teachings, you will not remain the same. You will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water which yields its fruit in its season, and in whatever you do, you will prosper and come to maturity.

In the book of Ephesians chapter 1 verses 17 to 20, Apostle Paul said “I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.  I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength He exerted when He raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly realms.”

It’s vital to remain and abide in the Lord and His Word because His counsel and what He says has the last authority. His ways of doing things, His wisdom and ways are different from us. The Lord Jesus said in Matthew chapter 24 verse 35, “Heaven and earth [as now known] will pass away, but His Words will not pass away.” Meaning that trusting the Lord Jesus and what He says is wiser than trusting anything in this world because of His eternal nature, for God’s Word always has the last say. The Word of God is the highest authority. In Isaiah chapter 55 from verses 9 to 11, the Lord said through Prophet Isaiah that “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His ways higher than our ways, and His thoughts than our thoughts. The rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return there without giving water to the earth. This makes plants grow on the earth, and gives seeds to the planter and bread to the eater. So His Word which goes from His mouth will not return to Him empty. It will do what He wants it to do, and will carry out His plan well.”

I like what the Psalmist said in Psalm 119 verse 105 concerning the Word of God;  “Your Word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” And in Psalm 119 verse 129 to 136 the Psalmist continued to say “Every Word You give me is a miracle Word— how could I help but obey? Break open Your Words, let the light shine out, let ordinary people see the meaning. Mouth open and panting, I wanted Your commands more than anything. Turn my way, look kindly on me, as You always do to those who personally love You. Steady my steps with Your Word of promise so nothing malign gets the better of me. Rescue me from the grip of bad men and women so I can live life Your way. Smile on me, Your servant; teach me the right way to live. I cry rivers of tears because nobody’s living by Your book!”

Now you see how important the Word of God is, than any word that you hang on. If God promised something, the faithful and living God, He will perform it, because that’s His nature; He is faithful and true. His Word and promises are not like ours, you know…trial and error until we find what works well. What He says, you don’t need to try it, just hang on it, and follow His teachings and instructions, and do what He says.
