Hi Beloved, may God’s love reign in your lives (and mine also…hahaha).
We are still continuing with our series, the subject of faith. And when I mean faith, I am actually implying faith of GOD or in other words GOD’s faith. There is a human faith, pagan faith, hahaha. The faith we are discussing about is the faith that GOD is the originator, the GOD of faith whose faith works through us. The faith that is rooted from the Word of GOD, the Word of CHRIST. The faith that depends on what GOD has already said and established. The faith of GOD that created heaven and earth, and everything in it.
The Bible says that the Lord Jesus is the Author and Finisher of our faith. He is the One Who writes faith in our hearts and then develops it to completion on the inside of us. Our part is to open our hearts and choose to believe His Words and declare it for our life situations and act on it. And as we keep hearing the Word of GOD, and hearing it, that faith gets to be planted in our hearts.
We have also discussed that God doesn’t need our ability; He needs our obedience. When He promises something, we need to get rid of our human logic. In the book of Isaiah chapter 55 verse 9, through prophet Isaiah, the LORD said “His ways are higher than our ways, and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.” And in verse 11, He said “His Word that goes out from His mouth will not return to Him empty, but will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it.” So as you can see GOD doesn’t speak useless words, His Words have purposes.
Previously I mentioned that you cannot bribe God. And I’m reminded by what the Lord Jesus said in the book of Matthew chapter 5 verses 23 and 24, which says “Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.” If you will read the entire Bible passage (Matthew 5:21-26), even though the Lord Jesus was more talking about anger, and that we need to forgive each other and resolve anger before it’s too late, for anger can cause us a lot of trouble; it can lead to murder and throw us into prison of all kinds of torments such as resentment and all other kinds of things that can develop out of anger, He said, if i can paraphrase it in my own words, when we go to offer a gift to Him, or give offerings, if we have anything against another, we should leave our gift before the altar, set our hearts right by going to resolve what we need to resolve, then come and offer our gift. So as you can see, GOD cares for the issues of our hearts more than we think. If you ask me, I think it’s really not about the size of our offerings and gifts to Him, GOD looks also on our hearts and our faith.
In the book of Genesis chapter 15 verse 6 it says that “And Abram believed the LORD, and the LORD declared him righteous because of his faith.” Notice here what it said “Until he believed,” the LORD declared him righteous because of his faith.
In the book of Romans chapter 4 verses 18 and 25, it says that “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of GOD, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to GOD, being fully persuaded that GOD had power to do what He had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.” The words “it was credited to him” were written not for him alone, but also for us, to whom GOD will credit righteousness—for us who believe in Him Who raised JESUS our LORD from the dead. He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.”
So let me ask you; what do you believe GOD for? Does it seem impossible? I mean, I’m going to be honest with you; I’m in the same boat as you if you answered yes. I have stopped walking by my own sight and logic for a little while now. I had to let the LORD JESUS take the wheel of my life. In fact, I have been hanging to some promises more than eight years now, and I’m still here, still believing as if today is the day of my breakthrough…hahaha.
Abraham was over 90 years old before he ever saw his promise come to pass. And the Bible says “Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of GOD, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to GOD, being fully persuaded that GOD had power to do what He had promised. This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”
We learn through Abraham, no matter what maybe happening in the natural, we need to decide to have unwavering faith like Abraham. In appointed time, GOD will move in our lives.
Why I’m saying in appointed time? As Abraham and Sarah was waiting for GOD’s promises to come to pass, the Bible says in the book of Genesis chapter 18, one day from nowhere without expecting it, Abraham had three visitors visited him from heaven (GOD’s Angels you can say), and in verses 10 to 14, it says that “Then one of them said, “I will surely return to you about this time next year, and Sarah your wife will have a son.” Now Sarah was listening at the entrance to the tent, which was behind him. Abraham and Sarah were already very old, and Sarah was past the age of childbearing. So Sarah laughed to herself as she thought, “After I am worn out and my lord is old, will I now have this pleasure?” Then the Lord said to Abraham, “Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Will I really have a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”
I like what one of the visitors said “Is anything too hard for the LORD? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.” He basically said that what you have been promised all these years, the appointed time has come; next year you will have what GOD has promised you.
So sometimes whenever we doubt, we should remember to ask ourselves “Is anything too hard for the LORD?” We need to remember our abilities do not depend on us; but depend on GOD. What GOD has promised to do, that is what He will do. Whether He will use fellow humans, angels, or accomplish everything by Himself through His Holy Spirit, only He knows. All we have got to do is to receive it in our hearts, and follow how He directs and confirms to us as it comes. GOD has a lot of ways to speak and direct us on what to do each step.
And of-course, sometimes worry about the issues of life can cause our faith to wavering. The Lord Jesus even said in Matthew chapter 13 verse 22 “Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the Word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word, and he becomes unfruitful.” In the face of adversity it’s easy for our faith to wavering because of the worry and cares of this world. We worry about so many things. And the Bible compares those worries as thorns.
Previously I have also shared that in the book of James chapter 1 verses 6 and 8, the Bible says “But when you ask God, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.”
The enemy of GOD wants us to wavering and give up on the promises of GOD, and be unstable in our walk with GOD. Our adversity usually will come from the enemy just to get us out of focus, to cause delays, or divert GOD’s answers that were meant for us so that they will miss us. But if we stand in faith till the end, not only we will win just as we have seen through Abraham and Sarah example, but we will gain other things also. In the book of James chapter 1 verses 2 and 4, it says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” Another translation says “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” So when we stand in faith, we will spiritual grow and develop godly characters such as patience, perseverance, or endurance. Our faith will be strengthened. We will learn to trust GOD and get to know Him more.
