God Will Give Us Instructions What To Do When We Stand In Faith

Hi lovely people of GOD,

Let’s go straight to the Word of GOD. There is a story I would like to share in the book of John chapter 2 from verse 1 to 11. The Bible records that “On the third day there was a wedding at Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; and both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. When the wine was all gone, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no more wine.” Jesus said to her, “[Dear] woman, what is that to you and to Me? My time [to act and to be revealed] has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” Now there were six stone waterpots set there for the Jewish custom of purification (ceremonial washing), containing twenty or thirty gallons each. Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. Then He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter [of the banquet].” So they took it to him. And when the headwaiter tasted the water which had turned into wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew) he called the bridegroom, and said to him, “Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now.” This, the first of His signs (attesting miracles), Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and revealed His glory [displaying His deity and His great power openly], and His disciples believed [confidently] in Him [as the Messiah—they adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Him].

Okay, don’t ask me about the wine and whether it had alcohol in it or not. But I do believe it didn’t. It was just the best wine that couldn’t make you drunk…hahaha. Thanks to the HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD,  I don’t consume alcohol anymore, I got deliver about eight years ago approximately. I’m grateful for that!

In this Bible passage we learn that in this wedding just before they were about to be put to shame, the Lord Jesus was in the house. They were celebrating, and pow, in the middle of the celebration, they ran out of beverages. Apparently the Lord Jesus’ Mother found out the wine was all gone. Therefore, she told her Son, they had no more wine. And the Lord Jesus kept it cool and said “Mama, what is it has to do with me.” Oh well those are my own words. So He said to His mother “My time [to act and to be revealed] has not yet come.” But His mother responded and said to the servants there “Whatever He says to you, do it.” Again, I repeat it. And His mother said “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

And the Lord Jesus told them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” So they filled them up to the brim. Then He said to them, “Draw some out now and take it to the headwaiter [of the banquet].” So they took it to him. And the Bible says, when the headwaiter tasted the water which had turned into wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew) he called the bridegroom, and said to him, “Everyone else serves his best wine first, and when people have drunk freely, then he serves that which is not so good; but you have kept back the good wine until now.”

There are so many things that we can learn from this Bible scripture. One, we learn that we have to release our faith and trust in God. The Lord Jesus mother released her faith, and in act of obedience, the Lord Jesus performed the miracle in public even though it wasn’t His time yet to be revealed to the world. Two, we learn that God will give us instructions toward our faith on what to do when we release our faith and trust in Him. Mother Mary said to the servants “Whatever He tells you to do, do it.” We have to obey God by faith. The miracle will happen when we do what He says to do. And third, we learn that the water that were filled was the metaphor of the Holy Spirit of God, the living water of God, and the vessels or waterpots were the metaphor of us, as God’s vessels. We learn that from the Holy Spirit of God, we can draw many things. We can draw solutions to our problems. All we have got to do is be filled with the Holy Spirit of God, and He will quench our life thirsty; our life problems and situations. Apostle Paul said in Ephesians chapter 5 verse 18, “Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit.” And the fourth thing we learn is that God came right on time. Just before they were about to be put to shame, the Lord Jesus was already in the house. The solution giver and problem solver was already in the house. All it was required was someone to release the faith for that timely shame to be removed. In fact it looks like the guests didn’t even notice that the hosts had ran out of wine.

When we release our faith, many times God will speak to us to give instructions on what to do. It may come as a revelation, inspiration, and an idea. He may speak to us as audible voice inside of us and we will just know it is God, or He may use someone else may be a pastor or prophet to tell and confirm to us what to do. I mean, God has several ways to communicate with us. And when our answers come, our job is to open our hearts and minds, and confirm to Him if it really came from Him, and do what He says to do.

Another example that God will give us instructions is in the book of Acts chapter 13 verses 1 to 3, and it records that “Now in the Church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away.”

After they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit spoke to one of them, or both of them. They were seeking the Lord for something, and the Bible says, after they did that,  the Holy Spirit of God spoke to them and told them what to do.

One more example is the famous story of the walls of Jericho in the Old Testament. You can read the entire story here. The Bible records that the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men.” So the Lord gave instructions that all they have to do was to “March around the city once with all the armed men for six days and have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark while they did that. On the seventh day,  they should marched around the city seven times, while the priests were blowing the trumpets. And after they heard the sound a long blast on the trumpets, the whole army would give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army would go up, everyone straight in.” And so the people did exactly what the Lord commanded, and the walls of Jericho collapsed instantly, and Israelites were able to enter in and took the entire city, and basically won an easy victory.

All they had to do is to obey the instructions by faith. Who destroyed and made the walls of Jericho collapsed? It wasn’t them. It was the Power of God, or maybe His angels. All they were supposed to do is to act towards their faith, an act of obedience towards the instructions were given to do. God told them I have given you Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. But you are going to do My way. My way is better than your ways you probably have been thinking to do.

Sometimes God may tell us to do things that don’t make sense, but they make faith, meaning that we have got to obey by faith. Sometimes He may want to see whether we will obey Him by acting toward our faith. God solutions sometimes don’t make sense. When God tells us to do something, He never looks on our capabilities or our environments, because He is God.

The Bible says in the book of 2 Corinthians chapter 1 verse 20 “For as many as are the promises of God, in Christ they are [all answered] “Yes.” So through Him we say our “Amen” to the glory of God.” So when we release our faith towards what God has promised in His Word, and hang on in His promises, He will give us instructions on what to do when we don’t know what to do.
