We have made it by God’s grace, power, love, and favor.
It’s about that time again where many of us are concentrating on making our new year’s resolutions and goals and aiming to start afresh. Some already did their New Year resolutions and goal-setting last month; some are doing it in the beginning of this month.
If you are looking for step-by-step instructions on how to set goals check out the following articles; they will help you and inspire you to take action and accomplish some of your goals this year.
<< Do You Have A Plan? >>
One of my New Year resolutions for this year is for God to help me walk in humility and to have more patience. I need God’s grace for this. It’s not even a joke.
In the book of Ephesians chapter 4 verses 1 to 4, Apostle Paul said that “Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.”
In the book of Proverbs chapter 16 verse 18, it says “Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.”
God exalts those who humble themselves before Him. The Lord Jesus said it in Matthew chapter 23 verse 12 “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”
So as you can see; it is that very important.
We also know when we lack patience, we can miss a lot of good things. Basically lack of patience can cause us to miss some of the blessings in our lives. We can make rush and harsh decisions because of lack of patience. Maybe because of desperation, or anger issue, pride…there we go again. And also maybe it’s lack of resilience because we can’t wait any longer or tolerate any more when push comes to shove.
There is this common saying and proverb that says “Good Things Come To Those Who Wait” or “All Things Come To Those Who Wait.” So it pays to have patience.
But also in the book of Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 3, it says that “For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”
In some life situations and circumstances, sometimes we are expected to wait longer than normal to achieve some goals, or receive some of our expectations, and so forth. So patience is required.
Another thing that I need God to help me with as part of my New Year resolutions is obedience. This is something that God honors a lot. In God’s Kingdom and His way of doing things basically blessings follow obedience. God honors obedience towards Him, His Word, and principles He has established here on earth in every area of our lives.
In the book of Luke chapter 6 verse 46 the Lord Jesus said “So why do you keep calling Me ‘Lord, Lord!’ when you don’t do what I say?”
In the book of Deuteronomy chapter 28 verse 1 and 2, it says “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.”
So remember; obedience blessings, blessings obedience.
We may have good plans but if we miss some of these important Christ-like characters, even with our hardworking skills and so much efforts we may not accomplish some of these plans that we want to accomplish in our lives and this year, especially when we have made decisions from now on we are doing and following God’s way of doing things. There could some things God wants to clear away or establish in our lives so that we can fully experience some of His blessings.
May you have a Wonderful 2019.
To your success,
