We are continuing with our series “The Kingdom Of GOD In.” Today we are discussing the notorious spirit called the spirit of Pharaoh.
- The spirit of Pharaoh
Probably every one of us has heard of Pharaoh. If you know about Moses in the Bible and the story of Israelites of how they were delivered from Egypt, then you have an idea of who Pharaoh is.
The spirit of Pharaoh is the spirit of the devil himself. Like I said, the devil works behind the scenes, in the spiritual realms and forces of darkness. It is named the spirit of Pharaoh because the characters of this spirit of the devil were revealed through Pharaoh.
Pharaoh was the enemy of GOD, the king of Egypt who refused to let go the Israelites, the people of GOD free even after several attempts of negotiations and miraculous demonstrations. And even after he permitted them later to go, he eventually changed his mind and pursued them again to stop them from escaping under his oppression.
The spirit of Pharaoh is a representation of the spirit of bondage, slavery, oppression, stubbornness, denial, recurring affliction, and hard-hardheartedness. It is also any stubborn spirit that chases you around, anywhere you go to bring you back to bondage.
This spirit controls a person, family, place or thing to bondage and never allows them to be free, unless God intervenes by force. It hinders you from living to your full potential spiritual, relational, marital, physical, financial, and in all other areas of our lives.
It is a spirit that puts one to task of working and living below poverty line, and task of marital distress. It is a spirit that threatens a man of God that is determined on setting God’s people free. It is the spirit that refuses to allow God’s people go to their promised land when their slavery is over. The spirit of Pharaoh is any spirit that challenges your God by magic, witchcraft, sorcery, and divination. It is also the spirit that destroys people with divine leadership potentials even from their early childhood lives. It also looks to destroy ministries and businesses while they are still young, in their early stages.
Let’s see what the Scriptures say about this spirit of Pharaoh.
In the book of Ezekiel chapter 29 verses 1 to 16, it records the prophecy against Egypt and judgment on Pharaoh years earlier before it even occurred. And this is what is says, “In the tenth year, in the tenth month on the twelfth day, the Word of the Lord came to me: “Son of man, set your face against Pharaoh king of Egypt and prophesy against him and against all Egypt. Speak to him and say: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: “‘I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt, you great monster lying among your streams. You say, “The Nile belongs to me; I made it for myself.” But I will put hooks in your jaws and make the fish of your streams stick to your scales. I will pull you out from among your streams, with all the fish sticking to your scales. I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and not be gathered or picked up. I will give you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the sky. Then all who live in Egypt will know that I am the Lord. “‘You have been a staff of reed for the people of Israel. When they grasped you with their hands, you splintered and you tore open their shoulders; when they leaned on you, you broke and their backs were wrenched. “‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I will bring a sword against you and kill both man and beast. Egypt will become a desolate wasteland. Then they will know that I am the Lord. “‘Because you said, “The Nile is mine; I made it,” therefore I am against you and against your streams, and I will make the land of Egypt a ruin and a desolate waste from Migdol to Aswan, as far as the border of Cush. The foot of neither man nor beast will pass through it; no one will live there for forty years. I will make the land of Egypt desolate among devastated lands, and her cities will lie desolate forty years among ruined cities. And I will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and scatter them through the countries. “‘Yet this is what the Sovereign Lord says: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the nations where they were scattered. I will bring them back from captivity and return them to Upper Egypt, the land of their ancestry. There they will be a lowly kingdom. It will be the lowliest of kingdoms and will never again exalt itself above the other nations. I will make it so weak that it will never again rule over the nations. Egypt will no longer be a source of confidence for the people of Israel but will be a reminder of their sin in turning to her for help. Then they will know that I am the Sovereign Lord.’”
You know the story of Pharaoh and the Israelites is a long-story. It is covered in the book of Exodus, chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15. In your own timing, you can read it to know the story into more details of what really happened.
But let’s look at chapter 14 that records how God fought for Israelites from Pharaoh and his army as they were crossing over and walked through the red sea on dry ground.
In the book of Exodus chapter 14, it says that “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Tell the Israelites to turn back and encamp near Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea. They are to encamp by the sea, directly opposite Baal Zephon. Pharaoh will think, ‘The Israelites are wandering around the land in confusion, hemmed in by the desert.’ And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them. But I will gain glory for Myself through Pharaoh and all his army, and the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” So the Israelites did this. When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about them and said, “What have we done? We have let the Israelites go and have lost their services!” So he had his chariot made ready and took his army with him. He took six hundred of the best chariots, along with all the other chariots of Egypt, with officers over all of them. The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly. The Egyptians—all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots, horsemen and troops—pursued the Israelites and overtook them as they camped by the sea near Pi Hahiroth, opposite Baal Zephon. As Pharaoh approached, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians, marching after them. They were terrified and cried out to the Lord. They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die? What have you done to us by bringing us out of Egypt? Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!” Moses answered the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the Lord will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to Me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.” Then the angel of God, who had been traveling in front of Israel’s army, withdrew and went behind them. The pillar of cloud also moved from in front and stood behind them, coming between the armies of Egypt and Israel. Throughout the night the cloud brought darkness to the one side and light to the other side; so neither went near the other all night long. Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses and chariots and horsemen followed them into the sea. During the last watch of the night the Lord looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. He jammed the wheels of their chariots so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, “Let’s get away from the Israelites! The Lord is fighting for them against Egypt.” Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea so that the waters may flow back over the Egyptians and their chariots and horsemen.” Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and at daybreak the sea went back to its place. The Egyptians were fleeing toward it, and the Lord swept them into the sea. The water flowed back and covered the chariots and horsemen—the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed the Israelites into the sea. Not one of them survived. But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left. That day the Lord saved Israel from the hands of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore. And when the Israelites saw the mighty hand of the Lord displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the Lord and put their trust in Him and in Moses His servant.”
One thing we can be sure is that GOD can deliver us from any stubborn situation and circumstance whether caused by the spirit of Pharaoh or any spirit of the devil. Even though these spirits and demons can be very stubborn, but GOD is MIGHTIER than them, and also stubborn…hahaha. Nothing is impossible with GOD.
So how do you know you may be affected by the spirit of Pharaoh?
You are facing afflictions, pains, and specific sufferings, some of them maybe for a really long time that threatening your destiny and hindering you from amounting to anything in life, some of them started from your childhood life. If you have an unusual hardness of heart, you may be under the influence of the spirit of Pharaoh. Remember now, Pharaoh even after the ten plagues, he remained hardened. If you have an affliction that keeps coming back again and again. Maybe you prayed for the situation before and it went away for some time, but then it came back even worse than before. Or every time you start to pray for deliverance the state of your situation increases and gets worse.
The spirit of pharaoh is also the spirit of mockery. It represents enemies and people who believe they can do anything without the fearing of GOD. In the book of Exodus chapter 5 verses 1 to 2, it says that “After that, Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the LORD, the GOD of Israel, says: ‘Let My people go, so that they may hold a feast to Me in the wilderness.’” But Pharaoh replied, “Who is the LORD that I should obey His voice and let Israel go? I do not know the LORD, and I will not let Israel go.”
In ancient Egypt, Pharaohs were seen as gods. They were worshiped. They didn’t operate a democratic government, but dictatorship. Even in these modern-day dictators, the spirit of Pharaoh is still associated with them. Also if you are in a relationship where the partner behaves like a dictator, you need to take authority against the spirit of pharaoh. If you work with a boss who is a dictator, then take authority against the spirit of pharaoh working behind your boss of that company or organization. The goal of every pharaoh is to be worshiped and served without questions. Anyone who acts in such a way is under the influence of the spirit of pharaoh. Don’t go fighting the person physically; just start praying and take authority against the demons possessing that person which are associated with this spirit of Pharaoh to leave him or her. Pharaohs are stubborn spiritual and physical pursuers and oppressors, and their goal is to lead to death of your destiny, dreams and goals, and et cetera, so that no one can rise above them.
If you are challenged with situations and problems that refuse to go, even after many prayers, fasting, prophetic declarations, and many people praying for you, then you may be facing situations orchestrated by the spirit of Pharaoh.
The Power of God is the greatest instrument of defeating our Pharaohs. We need to strive to stay in the presence of the Lord all the time until we walk in the realm that can bring defeat to this spirit. We must persevere and pray without ceasing because this spirit of Pharaoh is very stubborn. We need to release plague against Pharaoh by pleading the Blood of Jesus all the time. Pharaoh was getting weaker and weaker as Moses by the Spirit of the Lord released plagues against Pharaoh. Sometimes you won’t know that they are getting weaker, because Pharaohs will pretend that nothing is happening to them.
So we are going to pray these prayer points for ourselves, loved ones, and all people connected to us. It’s very important.
- Father GOD, I thank You for Your Power can deliver us even from all our stubborn situations, circumstances, demons, and evil spirits. Father GOD, mark our faces with the Blood Of JESUS CHRIST, the Passover Lamb of GOD’s Blood so we escape the evil of this world. We cover our lives, our family members’ lives, and all our loved ones lives and anyone connected to us by the Blood of JESUS CHRIST.
- Every covenant that established servitude to Pharaoh in our lives, we command you to break right now by the Blood of JESUS CHRIST, in the Mighty NAME of JESUS CHRIST. We declare, from today our 400 years of captivity is over in our lives, our family members lives, our bloodlines and lineages from both father and mother side of the family, in The MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST.
- Let the Power Of GOD swallow the spirit of Pharaoh’s afflictions and oppression upon our lives, and heal and deliver us in the MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST. And these afflictions of captivity shall never rise again in our lives, and our family members’ lives, and all our loved ones, in The MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST.
- We break and destroy every link between us and the spirit of Pharaoh, and we destroy all the spirit of Pharaoh’s instruments of power operating in our lives, our families, finances, careers, health, and in every area of our lives, in The MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST. They shall no longer continue to operate in our lives and destinies, in The MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST.
- By the Blood of JESUS CHRIST, we command every curse of captivity in our lives to break, in the MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST. We recover ourselves, our families, all our loved ones, and everyone connected to us from the hand of Pharaohs, in The MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST.
- LORD, remove Egyptians mentality from our lives in the MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST. Fill our mouths and mentality with testimonies of good reports and thanksgiving, in the MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST.
- HOLY FATHER, we take responsibilities for anything we have done in the past that may be a legal ground for the powers of Pharaohs to war against our lives, families, and our loved ones. We ask YOU LORD to forgive and clean us from all our wrongdoings and unrighteousness. We receive total forgiveness and cleansing in the MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST. As of today, may the spirit of Pharaoh have no more rights to dictate our lives and the events of our lives, in The MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST.
- Heavenly FATHER, give us Your revelation and insight on what to do concerning our situations so that we can overcome them. LORD, show us the things and the stubborn attacks we do not know about so that we can pray about them, deal with them, or hand them over to You. Teach us by Your HOLY SPIRIT, and empower and inspire us with actions that will lead us to our total freedom. This we pray, in the MIGHTY NAME of JESUS CHRIST.
- Thank YOUR LORD for Your Power at work in our lives to help us overcome and live victorious lives. In JESUS MIGHTY NAME, we have prayed and given thanks. Amen
