The Kingdom Of GOD In | Repent and Draw Near To GOD

Hi People of GOD,

We are continuing with our series “The Kingdom Of GOD In.” But before we go on, I have a little bit of disclaimer, because what we are going to discuss today is very sensitive, the information that will be shared is to bring awareness so that we could pray about our situations, to correct us, and convict us to repent.

The Bible says in the book of Romans chapter 3 verses 23 and 24 that “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, in His grace, freely makes us right in His sight. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins.”

You know, keeping the law of God doesn’t keep us right with God. And certainly keeping man-made rules and standards do not keep us right with God. The Lord Jesus Christ left heaven and came to this planet earth to pay the price for us so we could be in right standing with God, so that our righteousness could come from Him since we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Our righteousness is through and in the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our justification and is our righteousness.

In the book of Romans chapter 10 verse 4 it says that “For Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law was given. As a result, all who believe in Him are made right with God.”

So the righteousness that we have in Christ is not our own righteousness but Christ’s righteousness. Meaning that we don’t have to keep the Law of God by using our own strength, if you are in Christ Jesus, as a born-again Christian, the Lord Jesus Christ through His Holy Spirit of God works in us, pruning and purifying us, and empowering us to keep the His Law and live a righteous life, and making sure sin does not have dominion over our lives.

If you think you can go a day without sinning by your own strength, you are only lying to yourself. If you think you can even keep all of God’s commandments throughout a day for instance, by your own strength without the help of The Holy Spirit of God, you are only lying to yourself. In case you don’t know, sins can be committed both in our minds, by our words, and actions.

The Lord Jesus said in the book of Matthew chapter 5 verses 27 and 28, “You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” We can sin in our minds even by lusting after someone. So if you think you don’t need the Lord Jesus righteousness, think again.

Today we are going to discuss about curses and generational curses. Some of us are affected by what we are going to discuss today. So it’s important that we go through it.

The Bible says we shouldn’t pay evil with evil. In the book of 1 Peter chapter 3 verses 9 to 11, it says that “Do not pay back evil with evil or cursing with cursing; instead, pay back with a blessing, because a blessing is what God promised to give you when He called you. As the scripture says, “If you want to enjoy life and wish to see good times, you must keep from speaking evil and stop telling lies. You must turn away from evil and do good; you must strive for peace with all your heart. For the Lord watches over the righteous and listens to their prayers; but He opposes those who do evil.”

The Lord Jesus also taught us we should pray to our Heavenly Father for forgiveness for things we have done wrong, and He made it clear that receiving forgiveness and answers to our prayers may be affected whether we are also forgiving others. He said it in the Lord’s Prayer that we should pray like this “Our Heavenly Father, forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” But also in the book of Mark chapter 11 verse 24 and 25, the Lord Jesus said “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against another, forgive it, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your trespasses as well.”

The characters we are going to learn and discuss today were revealed to people just like us who had been affected some way or another by the negative spirits and influences in their lives. It’s possible they did  what they did because they didn’t know better, or perhaps it was the evil forces and negative circumstances in their lives were pulling, forcing, and influencing them to do what they did.

Good news is that we can take authority given to us through the Lord Jesus Christ, and rebuke these spirits and curses. We can cancel them, break their chains and terminate the effect they have on us through the Blood of Jesus Christ and His Powerful Name, and the Power of His Holy Spirit.

  • Curses and generational curses

I looked online for the meaning of a curse, and one of the definitions says a curse is “A solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something.” Another definition says “A series of words calling for harm to come to someone.” But also “A word or an expression used in swearing or in calling for harm to come to someone.” Or “Evil or misfortune that comes as if in answer to someone’s request.”

In the book of Proverbs chapter 18 verse 21, it says that “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” Another translation says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”

The Lord Jesus warned us in the book of Mathew chapter 12 verses 35 to 37 that on the day of judgment everyone of us will have to give account for every empty word we speak or have spoken. He said “A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”

So we need to use our words carefully because life and death are in the power of the tongue. What we say to ourselves or others have power to destroy or nourish our lives.

In the book of Genesis chapter 9 verse 20 to 27, we see here one example, a type of a generational curse, the curse of Ham or the curse upon Canaan, where Noah cursed his son Ham and his seed or descendants because Canaan laughed at his  shame and did not cover it, but laughed about it and mocked.

The Scripture records that “After the flood, Noah began to cultivate the ground, and he planted a vineyard. One day he drank some wine he had made, and he became drunk and lay naked inside his tent. Ham, the father of Canaan, saw that his father was naked and went outside and told his brothers. Then Shem and Japheth took a robe, held it over their shoulders, and backed into the tent to cover their father. As they did this, they looked the other way so they would not see him naked. When Noah woke up from his stupor, he learned what Ham, his youngest son, had done. Then he cursed Canaan, the son of Ham: “May Canaan be cursed! May he be the lowest of servants to his relatives.” Then Noah said, “May the Lord, the God of Shem, be blessed, and may Canaan be his servant! May God expand the territory of Japheth! May Japheth share the prosperity of Shem, and may Canaan be his servant.”

Ham was Canaan youngest son, and he may also represent the youngest daughter of the family. I am sorry to say this, but even now, in this era, in some societies the curse of Canaan or Ham still operates. Some of them its a culture that the youngest of the siblings is the one has no voice and has to be subjected and be under the umbrella of the older siblings, unless of course you determine to break the curse. It’s only the older siblings that succeed and youngest ones have to serve them or beg from them. You know what I mean.

If you are familiar with the Bible and follow up on the tribes and family names, the Canaanites were the descendants of Ham, and the Israelites were where Abraham came, the descendants of Shem. This curse invoked on Ham or Canaan was so effective even after several years later to the point that it caused them being dispossessed from their own inherited land, the land flowing with milk and honey, and caused their land be given to the descendants of Abraham instead as their inheritance. It was their land, but the Lord decided to give to Israelites, His People.

Some Biblical Scholars say that the curse on Canaan or Ham was in response to an act of moral depravity and corruption of the Canaanites. It started small, and it grew. There was an evil force behind the curse that made sure that they messed up badly so that they could lose their birthrights and inheritance because they were operating under the curse that was invoked on their forefather Ham. Nobody stood up to deal with it and asked God for help and His mercy, so it continued generation after generation. They were affected by it, their descendants were affected by it.

In this life some of us maybe operating under the curse and we don’t know it because it is generational. It started from our forefathers or foremothers, ten hundred years ago…hahaha.

How do we know there is a generational curse operating in our lineages? Just observe the weaknesses that our lineages have. In some families you will notice that about everyone in your family are drinkers, serious consumers of alcohol. Or they get divorce after several years of marriage. Or none of them went to college, or succeed to a certain higher level, or own their own business, they are all employees, and none of them is an employer. Or they only get married after they have children with a man or woman. Or they marry late in their thirties or forties. Or they all die with certain kind of inherited diseases, or they die at certain young age. I mean, these are just few examples.

How do you know it is a real curse operating? When you try against all odds to break the norm and culture, and you can’t, even after so much effort, hard work, and investment, and you realize there are some evil forces and vows made that we need to deal with from the root and cancel them by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sometimes even after you have prayed they may not go away completely, until you review with the Help of the Holy Spirit to see where things are going wrong to cause Him to not answer your prayers. It maybe because you have not really repented and turned to GOD and make Him the LORD of your life in every area of your life and that’s why He is delaying some of the answers. May be in your past you unintentionally have entered into a different evil covenant, and you haven’t really broken the contract with the devil and denounced it. Or maybe you still visit witch-doctors, fortune tellers, tarots cards, worship idols, watching porn. All of these things that God abhors.

But also disobedience to God and various sins that we commit for a long-time without really repenting can open the door and an opening for the enemy to come in and attack us, our finances, our health, our relations, our peace, and so on. It may look like we are under the curse, but truth is God allowed things to happen to us because of our ungodly ways and we refuse to repent.

The Bible says in the book of Galatians chapter 3 verses 13 to 14 that “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”

Good news is that through the Lord Jesus we are redeemed from any curse that we may be affected with. Whether it was a curse invoked just on you only, or your lineages, it doesn’t matter, He can break all if you believe in Him and His Salvation.

You know there are lot of reasons can cause people to curse you. Not all of them were because of what we have done wrong. Some curses can come because people can curse you for instance out of envy. It may not be generational curse, but it is still a curse. For instance; they can curse you to not get married. They know that your husband or your wife is your destiny helper and your covering cloth, so they will curse you so that you won’t get married, or trouble your marital destiny even after you succeed to get married so that it won’t last, and as you know God has blessings that are released in marriages. Children are one of them, but love, companionship, and other blessings. They are people in life, they are called destiny helpers that you must meet in order to fulfill your great destiny. And a husband or wife is one of them. In the book of Proverbs chapter 18 verse 22 says “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor from the Lord.” So as you can see there are some benefits you get through marriage.

Some people you cannot miss, because you miss the person you should have become, and through your union, there are a lot of people who can benefit because of the divine connection you have with those people. If it is marital, maybe that person is going to be a president or business and money magnate someday for instance…hahaha, or maybe it is your children who are going to be great, so when you meet them and get married to them, things start to fall into place, and many years’ later people are calling you the first lady, or great society influencer, or a mini bank…hahaha. You are the only one who doesn’t know about it, but the devil knows about it, the magicians and fortune tellers know about it because they can predict your future, so they orchestrate things to make sure it won’t happen.

And it may not be a marriage thing, there are destiny helpers just through their friendship, just because you are close to them, they can turn around your life through their influence and help to become a superstar just like them. That’s why we need to pray and plead the Blood of Jesus upon us every day because you never know what the devil and his affiliates or agents are up to, and what are they doing behind the scenes to hindering us certain privileges in our lives that they know about we don’t know about yet.

May be before we continue, I should mention another disclaimer. I am not sharing these examples to imply anything to anybody. Please, don’t take what I am sharing and make your own implications.

There is this story in the Bible that shows that some people may want to curse you not because you have done anything wrong, but out of their inferiority, or being insecure. You can read the entire story in the book of Numbers 22, 23, and 24. But to get the glimpse of the story, let’s read the book of Numbers chapter 22 verse 1 to 20, and it says that “Then the Israelites traveled to the plains of Moab and camped along the Jordan across from Jericho. Now Balak son of Zippor saw all that Israel had done to the Amorites, and Moab was terrified because there were so many people. Indeed, Moab was filled with dread because of the Israelites. The Moabites said to the elders of Midian, “This horde is going to lick up everything around us, as an ox licks up the grass of the field.” So Balak son of Zippor, who was king of Moab at that time, sent messengers to summon Balaam son of Beor, who was at Pethor, near the Euphrates River, in his native land. Balak said: “A people has come out of Egypt; they cover the face of the land and have settled next to me. Now come and put a curse on these people, because they are too powerful for me. Perhaps then I will be able to defeat them and drive them out of the land. For I know that whoever you bless is blessed, and whoever you curse is cursed.” The elders of Moab and Midian left, taking with them the fee for divination. When they came to Balaam, they told him what Balak had said. “Spend the night here,” Balaam said to them, “and I will report back to you with the answer the Lord gives me.” So the Moabite officials stayed with him. God came to Balaam and asked, “Who are these men with you?” Balaam said to God, “Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab, sent me this message: ‘A people that has come out of Egypt covers the face of the land. Now come and put a curse on them for me. Perhaps then I will be able to fight them and drive them away.’” But God said to Balaam, “Do not go with them. You must not put a curse on those people, because they are blessed.” The next morning Balaam got up and said to Balak’s officials, “Go back to your own country, for the Lord has refused to let me go with you.” So the Moabite officials returned to Balak and said, “Balaam refused to come with us.” Then Balak sent other officials, more numerous and more distinguished than the first. They came to Balaam and said: “This is what Balak son of Zippor says: Do not let anything keep you from coming to me, because I will reward you handsomely and do whatever you say. Come and put a curse on these people for me.” But Balaam answered them, “Even if Balak gave me all the silver and gold in his palace, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the Lord my God. Now spend the night here so that I can find out what else the Lord will tell me.” That night God came to Balaam and said, “Since these men have come to summon you, go with them, but do only what I tell you.”

I mean, Balak was even willing to raise the reward even after Balaam already sent him a message that he can’t curse what is blessed. The text says Balak said he will reward Balaam handsomely and do whatever he says. And I love what Balaam answered “Even if Balak gave me all the silver and gold in his palace, I could not do anything great or small to go beyond the command of the Lord my God.”

Our enemies are willing to do whatever to see us doomed. That’s why we need to seriously take time to pray and break their chains they invoke on us. We don’t know what traps they try to put on us and our destinies. In fact we don’t know who our real enemies are. They could people who are close to us, or people who are not close to us. Who knows?

We are going to pray for ourselves and all our loved ones, and anyone concern us.

  • LORD, please destroy every witchcraft, every curse, and every evil power that has been set against us to bring bad luck and unending problems into our lives, this we pray in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. We break their chains and their effect in our lives in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. • Any witchcraft altars, any evil altars, any demonic and satanic altars, holding our destinies, may the Power of The Almighty GOD Spirit consume you, in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. LORD, please shut every evil door and avenue the enemy has been using to enter our lives to steal our blessings; spiritual blessings, family blessings, financial blessings, marital blessings, our health, our peace, and so on, this I pray in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. Oh GOD, have mercy on us.
  • As for me LORD, I don’t want the broken pieces even if put together well again, for the memories are too painful to bear. LORD, clear my plate and cup, remove everything wrong, and give me a better fresh new beginning. Fill my plate and cup again JEHOVAH with better destiny story. Thank You LORD, this I pray in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST.
  • We break and destroy every curse of Canaanites. We break and destroy every generational curse from the time Noah cursed Canaan or Ham, we break and destroy all such generational curses in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST in our lives and our lineages. Heavenly FATHER, if there is any curses hindering and limiting us that we are not aware of, we pray to be set free right now in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. We declare, from now on by Your grace oh GOD, we cannot be cursed, this we pray, in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. Thank YOU HOLY FATHER.
