The Kingdom Of GOD In | You Are The LORD That Heals Us

Previously we discussed a little bit on the Spirit of Infirmity. Today we are going to see more examples of the spirit of infirmity, and how do you know you have the spirit of infirmity.

  • The Spirit Of Infirmity

Let’s look at the book of Luke chapter 13 verses 10 to 17. The Bible passage says “Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, “Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.” And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. But the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath; and he said to the crowd, “There are six days on which men ought to work; therefore come and be healed on them, and not on the Sabbath day.” The Lord then answered him and said, “Hypocrite! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or donkey from the stall, and lead it away to water it? So ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom satan has bound—think of it—for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath?” And when He said these things, all His adversaries were put to shame; and all the multitude rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by Him.”

The same Bible passage in another translation, it says that “Now Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And there was a woman who for eighteen years had an illness caused by a spirit (demon). She was bent double, and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are released from your illness.” Then He laid His hands on her; and immediately she stood erect again and she began glorifying and praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, began saying to the crowd in response, “There are six days in which work ought to be done; so come on those days and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day.” But the Lord replied to him, “You hypocrites (play-actors, pretenders)! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead it away to water it? And this woman, a daughter (descendant) of Abraham whom satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?” As He was saying this, all His opponents were being humiliated; and the entire crowd was rejoicing over all the glorious things that were being done by Him.”

So now we know, the spirit of infirmity is a type of unclean spirit or demon that can make you ill, afflict you, or put sickness and abnormalities on you. Basically satan also known as the devil can use his army of evil spirits or demons also known as fallen angels to afflict and bind you for years with illnesses or abnormalities. As you can see from this story, this woman had a spirit of infirmity for eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself up. Just imagine the pain she went through. It was the demon that made her crippled. It was not a normal illness. And the Lord Jesus was able to discern and identified it, and delivered her from it. The Bible says “When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, “Woman, you are released from your illness.” Then He laid His hands on her; and immediately she stood erect again and she began glorifying and praising God.”

Very recently I was discussing with a sister in Christ about the spirit of infirmity. And she told me that she got to witness this spirit through the Church she has been going. She said that there was this one day this lady came to their Church and in the middle of Church service I think, the Pastor called this woman to come front, and said to the woman loudly, ‘you demon, you snake spirit, I command you to come out of her.’ And immediately that woman got delivered. Then this woman started testifying that a couple of years ago she started noticing her stomach growing gradually, and when it grew to a really big stomach, she finally decided to go to the hospital for checkup to find out what’s wrong with her. I don’t know how many hospitals she went, but the doctors diagnosed her and found nothing was wrong with her, the only thing they could do to help her was to perform surgery so that they could remove what needed to be removed. Few days before her surgery due date, she decided to go to Church, and that day the Pastor called her to the front and delivered her. The minute the Pastor put his hands on her stomach, that snake that was inside her stomach vanished, and her stomach went flat immediately. There was no need for her to continue with the surgery because she got healed that day. Her infirmity was not a normal illness, it was a demonic attack. And this demon made a home in her stomach, and as that demon kept growing, her stomach also kept growing.

In this Bible passage, the Lord Jesus specifically speaks of satan having bound this woman with a spirit of infirmity, but not all cases of healing miracles that the Bible mentions the Lord Jesus performed were specifically demonic attacks. So we cannot blame every illness or affliction as satanic influence and source.

One example is the woman with the issue of blood that she is mentioned in the book of Luke chapter 8 verses 43 to 48.   The Bible passage says “And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind Him and touched the edge of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against You.” But Jesus said, “Someone touched Me; I know that power has gone out from Me.” Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at His feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched Him and how she had been instantly healed. Then He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” The Bible doesn’t mention that this woman with the issue of blood condition was because of demonic influence or attack.

I tell you, there are scary stories in this world! You will be amazed of what some people go through in this life. I thank GOD that it is His Will that we are healed. GOD’s Will is not for us to be bound with satan, or with all kinds of afflictions, He wants us to be free so that we can glorify Him.

So how do you know you have the spirit of infirmity? Well, if your problem or illness is spiritual and not physical. If you go to the doctors and they diagnose you and find out they can’t find what is really wrong with you, then you may be affected by this spirit of infirmity. You need to pray about it and ask the Lord to guide you and reveal the root of your problem.

I will give another example. There is this story in the book of Luke chapter 5 verses 17 to 39. The story says “Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present to heal them. Then behold, men brought on a bed a man who was paralyzed, whom they sought to bring in and lay before Him. And when they could not find how they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they went up on the housetop and let him down with his bed through the tiling into the midst before Jesus. When He saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, “Who is this who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?” But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, He answered and said to them, “Why are you reasoning in your hearts? Which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk’? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—He said to the man who was paralyzed, “I say to you, arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” Immediately he rose up before them, took up what he had been lying on, and departed to his own house, glorifying God. And they were all amazed, and they glorified God and were filled with fear, saying, “We have seen strange things today!”

The Bible passage says when The Lord Jesus saw their faith, He said to him, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.” Once the Lord Jesus informed him that his sins were forgiven, He commanded the man to rise up and go home.  The physical manifestation of his healing followed after the spiritual revelation of forgiveness. The root of his problem, his paralytic situation was that he needed to be forgiven of his sins. It was a spiritual thing, not a physical thing. It looks like even if he went to the hospital the doctors could not do anything to really help him. Perhaps they could but it may had a chance to come back into his life again until the real issue is fixed from the root.

Another example we see is in the book of John chapter 5 verses 1 to 15. I like this story because it shows that God sometimes just appear and show mercy to those who do not even know Him. Sometimes God just decides to visit someone who doesn’t even know Him or search for Him.

The Scripture says, “Later on there was a Jewish feast (festival), and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now in Jerusalem, near the Sheep Gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew (Jewish Aramaic) Bethesda, having five porticoes (alcoves, colonnades). In these porticoes lay a great number of people who were sick, blind, lame, withered, [waiting for the stirring of the water; for an angel of the Lord went down into the pool at appointed seasons and stirred up the water; the first one to go in after the water was stirred was healed of his disease.] There was a certain man there who had been ill for thirty-eight years. When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to get well?” The invalid answered, “Sir, I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am coming [to get into it myself], someone else steps down ahead of me.” Jesus said to him, “Get up; pick up your pallet and walk.” Immediately the man was healed and recovered his strength, and picked up his pallet and walked. Now that day was the Sabbath. So the Jews kept saying to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and you are not permitted to pick up your pallet [because it is unlawful].” He answered them, “The Man Who healed me and gave me back my strength was the One Who said to me, ‘Pick up your pallet and walk.’” They asked him, “Who is the Man Who told you, ‘Pick up your pallet and walk’?” Now the man who had been healed did not know Who it was, for Jesus had slipped away [unnoticed] since there was a crowd in that place.  Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus Who had made him well.”

The passage says that crowds of sick people—blind, lame, or paralyzed gathered by this pool waiting at the right season when an angel of the Lord went down into the pool and stirred up the water and the first one who was able to go in after the water was stirred was healed of his or her disease. But in this one Sabbath Day, the Lord Jesus happened to visit that place, and He didn’t noticed all other sick people, except for this certain one man, who was ill for thirty-eight years. And the Scripture says “When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to get well?”

Why did the Lord Jesus asked him “Do you want to get well? I really don’t know. But my guessing is that he was ill for a really long time, and with his disability it’s possible he would have come there until his dying day. It’s very likely that, if the Lord Jesus hadn’t intervened, nothing would have changed for this man. Because he said to the Lord Jesus “Sir, I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am coming [to get into it myself], someone else steps down ahead of me.” So the Lord Jesus had compassionate on him, and told him “Get up; pick up your pallet and walk.”

I mean, this man wasn’t even searching for the Lord Jesus, but it was the Lord Jesus who was searching for him. Sometimes God can surprise some people with His unexpected goodness. When you least expect it, He shows up. The Lord Jesus cured this man, despite the fact that he didn’t ask for the healing and didn’t know his Healer.

Another thing we see and learn is the warning that the Lord Jesus told this man when He found him in the temple. He told him, “See, you are well! Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.” We see here some of our bondage and infirmities are results of a sinful life for our sins are the source of all these pain, infirmities, bondage, and abnormalities that we may be experiencing in our lives.

There is another interesting story in the Bible in the book of John chapter 9. In this story we see that sometimes you may be going through something not because of the penalty of sin, or of demonic influence, but because the works of God might be displayed in you.

The Bible records that, “As He went along, He saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked Him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of Him Who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” After saying this, He spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” He told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing. His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.” “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.” “Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said. They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath. Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.” Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for He does not keep the Sabbath.” But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?” So they were divided. Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes He opened.” The man replied, “He is a prophet.” They still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?” “We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders, who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out of the synagogue. That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.” A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,” they said. “We know this Man is a sinner.” He replied, “Whether He is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!” Then they asked him, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?” He answered, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become His disciples too?” Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this Fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses! We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this Fellow, we don’t even know where He comes from.” The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where He comes from, yet He opened my eyes. We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does His Will. Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.” To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out. Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when He found him, He said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” “Who is He, Sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in Him.” Jesus said, “You have now seen Him; in fact, He is the One speaking with you.” Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and He worshiped Him. Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.” Some Pharisees who were with Him heard Him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?” Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”

The disciples asked the Lord Jesus whether this man blindness was a punishment from God for the sin he committed or his parents committed. But the Lord Jesus said to them the man’s blindness had a higher purpose; to show the glory of God in his life. The issue was not the cause of the man’s blindness, but the role that it played in the work of God, and making the Lord Jesus known as the One sent by the Father, the One Who gave him sight.

The Scripture says that when the Lord Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when He found him, He said, “Do you believe in the Son of Man?” “Who is He, Sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in Him.” Jesus said, “You have now seen Him; in fact, He is the One speaking with you.” Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and He worshiped Him. Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind will see and those who see will become blind.”

Basically the book of John chapter 9 demonstrates how the man who was once blind can now see in both a physical and a spiritual sense. We also see the Pharisees, religious leaders, who claimed to be able to see, but were spiritually blinded; they couldn’t be able to see the light. Had they acknowledged their spiritual blindness and allowed the Lord Jesus to remove it, then they would have been blessed and enlightened.

The Lord Jesus came to be the Light of the world to reveal that we are all really in darkness. He is the revealer and the giver of light and sight. We also learn that the ones who insist they see when in fact do not see are kept away from God through sin. If you are a true believer, you don’t claim to have all the answers; you follow what God says in spite of not knowing. So we see the Lord Jesus telling the Pharisees that since they claimed to be able to see, they are, in fact, still with sin and do not see at all.

So we are going to pray to the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY to help us, our family members, our relatives, our loved ones, and those we are connected to us.

  • Heavenly FATHER GOD, show us mercy. LORD, if there is any sin that we need to confess so that we could be forgiveness and be healed, please LORD GOD, reveal it to us. The Bible proves to us that it is Your Will to heal us and set us free from satanic bondage and attacks and infirmities. It is also Your Will to heal us from all kinds of illnesses and diseases. FATHER, we ask for that healing and deliverance today for ourselves, our family members, relatives, and everyone connected to us, this we pray in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST.
  • Dear GOD, guide us and show us a way out to our deliverance. Help us to take authority given to us in the Lord Jesus Christ so that we could exercise it accordingly in our lives and the lives of our loved ones and everyone concerning us. This we pray in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST.
  • Satan, we command you to leave us. We arrest you and ask the Power of The LORD, of The HOLY SPIRIT Of GOD to consume you in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. Satan leave us alone, this is not a negotiation, its a command. Leave our bodies in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. We declare we belong to GOD Almighty, JEHOVAH GOD, in the Mighty Name Of JESUS CHRIST.
  • LORD, let pain, misfortune, sicknesses, and infirmities be far from us. We receive healing and wholeness from YOU, in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. We rebuke, cast out, and command all evil spirits of infirmities and their operations deactivated in our lives. Every evil spirit that may cause us disability and illness, we cast you out in our lives, this we pray in the Mighty Name Of JESUS CHRIST.
  • We declare freedom from every bondage, demonic attack, danger, and all evil that may want to come against us, this we pray in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST. Oh LORD our GOD, forgive us so that the devil may not have legal rights to torment us, this we pray in the Mighty Name of JESUS CHRIST.
  • Thank YOU HOLY and Precious GOD. Thank YOU for we shall see YOUR faithfulness. The Bible says You are true and just. Let us see YOUR Mighty Power fighting for us. Thank YOU HOLY FATHER. Blessed be The LORD our GOD. This we pray in JESUS’ MIGHTY NAME. Amen
