I have been praying for you that not only you will stumble, stop by, or subscribe, but through Helen Majaga International you will also find vital information that in one way or another will make a tremendous difference in your life and loved ones for the better.

Let’s read the Tower of Babel Bible passage in the book of Genesis chapter 11 from verses 1 to 9. Reading from the New International Bible version it records that “Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.” But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.” So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.”

More and more I get to discover all the good principles of success we learn in the world or worldly point of view, to be justified in the Bible or Biblical point of view. From this Tower of Babel Bible passage we learn these four concepts that if can understand them; they may help us also with our journeys in this life, not only to help us achieve our dreams and goals, but also to manage and cope with life in general in all life aspects and areas.

  • Work in Unity

We see from this passage a people, who had one language and a common speech. They had unity and oneness.  They gathered themselves together and decided they were going to build themselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that they can make a name for themselves. So as they were building, the Lord came down to see the city and the tower they were building, and it looks like the Lord was not pleased of what they were planning to do, as we all know, God can see what’s ahead of us than we can, and therefore He caused disunity among them. They had one language and one speech, so the Lord confused their language so they will not understand each other. In order for the Lord to stop their plans, we learn that He caused disunity among them. It was a tactic that He used to stop them doing what they were doing. Like I said, God knew what this was going to lead to, maybe they had wrong intentions. The Bible says that these people wanted to build a city with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that they can make a name for themselves. Only God knows what their true intentions were. But it also looks like since from beginning, The Lord had a different and better plan for Himself and His people.

But what we can learn here is that there is power in unity. In order to succeed and remain strong, and have a good team work in our businesses, ministries, families, and marriages, we need to have unity and oneness.  Even though they had wrong intentions, but these people knew the power of unity and oneness. Even the Bible recorded The Lord saying, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

Wherever there is unity there is strength. Many marriages and families are destroyed because of disunity. Many businesses fail because of disunity within their organizations, companies, or work-teams. When people work together in one common goal and oneness in objectives with determination nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.  I have just paraphrased what it is said in the Bible. So we learn here that a plan backed up with ambitious and determined people who worked together in unity is a very dangerous tool to success.

You need oneness to succeed. Even if you are on your own, when it comes to achieving your personal goals, your mind has to become one with your plans. That is what faith is, to have confidence in what we hope for, or on the things and plans we hope for. When we doubt, we disconnect and disunite our minds from the things we hope for. Our minds or mindsets have to align with our plans to be able to accomplishing them.

  • Imagine Big

The first thing and step into achieving something worthwhile is to get clear pictures that we can see in our inner minds. Before we even apply unity or oneness, and plan out or make plans, we have got to have visions of what we want to achieve and become.

Let’s see another Bible version what it says about the Tower of Babel story. In New King James Bible version, it records that “And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them thoroughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.”

In this Bible version, it has translated the story a little bit difference, it records that “And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.”

There is this famous quote that says, “If you can imagine it, you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it.”

So the Lord said, “This they begin to do, now nothing will be restrained from them which they have imagined to do.” There is power in your imagination. What we imagine may come to pass. The images we hold in our minds can come to reality. Therefore we have to intentionally imagine the things we look forward to achieve. The images we visualize and the thoughts we think are important. And they go together because, the images we visualize and hold in our minds, many times they will be accompanied with the thoughts we think. They go together like that, even what we think are part of our imaginations.

One of the keys to see our dreams, goals, and plans to come to pass is to see them come to pass in our minds first. We have got to visualize the right pictures and images and stories in our imaginations. We have to see ourselves succeed, marching and moving forward, winning and rising higher, becoming healthy and happy, and we are heading to bright future. The things we imagine, they can drive and move us to achieving them. Our imagination is very powerful. And the best part is that if they align with God’s Will, Plans, and Purposes for us, then nothing will be restrained from us which we imagine to do. If God, ‘the last say’ approves it, the only thing may stop and block our way to success is our limited imagination and willingness to push forward to our own success and wellbeing. If God said go and achieve it, and we don’t do it, then we are to blame. Not everybody’s way is paved easily; sometimes we may have to push it against all odds in order to breakthrough, or move from defeat to breakthrough.

So be intentional on the images we are painting in our minds concerning us; in our health, relationships, finances, business, ministries, and so on. From this Bible passage, the people imagined big. In New King James version it says, they said “Let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name.” In New International version, it says, they said “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves.” If you have to image and dream it, you might as well dream and imagine big. Just don’t forget to commit your visions, dreams, imaginations, and plans to God and prayer covering them to get His approval, guidance, clear direction or His version of clarity concerning your dreams and goals, but also help, so that God can help you establish and accomplishing them. There are some good and godly dreams and desires that we have; it was God Who put them there for His purposes and plans. Not all of them come from our selfish desires and plans. So we have to check with the Master.

  • Choose Faith

One of my favorite Bible scriptures is Proverbs chapter 3 verses 5 and 6, and it says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” And I have learned a lot about faith through this Scripture. Sometimes you don’t need to understand everything in every detail what God says to do and not to do. If the Lord said it, just trust it. It comes from the Lord God, don’t try to analyze too much and complicate everything, let it go, and simply say, “Let Your Will be done God.” Isn’t the Lord Who was recorded saying in Isaiah chapter 48 verse 17 “This is what the Lord says– your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, Who teaches you what is best for you, Who directs you in the way you should go?” God knows what’s best for us, and when He says no, He means it, and yes, He means it.

But let’s learn also from the Tower of Babel story, why we need to choose faith, and act in spite of our fears. In this Bible passage, we see these people faith and at the same time their fears. They had unity, they imagined big, and were determined to build a city and a tower up to heaven, so they can make name for themselves, I mean, that is what it looks like their agenda was, to make names for themselves, that was their main concern. They didn’t have a purpose for common and greater good; they wanted to be famous for building a city and a tower.  So we can see their faith; they wanted to build something for themselves, and they acted toward their faith. But on the other hand, they also had their fears. And the Bible passage records that they didn’t want to be scattered over the face of the whole earth.

And unfortunately what they feared also is what happened to them. They took action in spite of what they feared, but it looks like the fear was also stronger just like their faith, to cause what they feared to come to reality.  And so the Bible records that “The Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scattered them over the face of the whole earth.”

We see this also mentioned in the book of Job, when he said in Job chapter 3 verse 25 “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.”

We learn the importance of having the right and correct mindsets. We cannot be thinking of failure all the time and expect to have good success. We cannot think failure and think success at the same time. The dominant thoughts are the ones will always be stronger than the non-dominant ones. We have to choose on purpose to think on one or the other. Sometimes in order to achieve what we haven’t achieved before or yet, we have to do what we have not done before. We can’t keep expecting different results and keep thinking and doing the same things over and over again.  As we change our mind and improve our mindsets, our lives will be improved as well. We have to train ourselves to think on purpose thoughts of success, prosperity, hope, and possibilities. If we keep thinking things will not work, they may end up not working for us. We need to stay positive regardless of the discouragement we may face and encounter.

I heard from this pastor saying that many of us fear things that they don’t even exist. And because we fear and worry about them, we cause what we fear and worry become to existence. But he also said, the secret always is to having faith and apply it into our situations. When we applied faith, the imaginary mountains and obstacles that we fear even before they exist they will vanish. With faith we can remove our mountains and obstacles even after they have already existed. If we hang on and continue to believe all things are possible, the mountains and obstacles we are facing today they can be moved and disappear for our good. So we need to choose faith because it is the antidote of fear.

  • Take Action

The fourth thing we learn is that action always speaks louder. I think that the Lord wouldn’t have come down to see what they were doing if they didn’t start building it. When the Lord came, He found them building, there were in action mode; they were taking actions toward their plans, visions, dreams and goals. From the Bible passage it says, “But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building.”

Their dreams and ideas didn’t remain on their imaginations, or notebooks, hahaha… They took action, and acted toward them. “They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar.”

They gathered themselves together in unity, they imagined and got clear pictures of their visions, they wrote and put their plans in details, and they took action towards achieving them. Basically, after we have done all the prerequisites toward achieving our goals and dreams, we need to implement things, or else they will be half done. We need to remember, even if God will drop the manna from heaven, we still have got to collect it.
