“Consider the ant. Watch its ways, and become wise. Although it has no overseer, officer, or ruler, in summertime it stores its food supply. At harvest time it gathers its food.” Proverbs 6:6-8 God’s Word Translation (GW)
Summer is here. For those of us who are living in tropical areas, where it is usually summer all year around, we get used to it. But let’s learn something today from the ants.
The Bible says there is something we can learn about the ants. In the book of Proverbs chapter 6 verses 6 to 8, it says that these little creatures are very wise. They don’t have overseers, rulers, or officers, but yet they are wise enough to know and remember to prepare their food supply in the summertime, so that they can gather its food in the harvest time.
Basically the lesson from the ants is that they always prepare for the coming season and does not wait until they get to the season and then to start preparing. One thing they have realized is that life is about seasons. In fact, in the book of Genesis chapter 8 verse 22, it says that “As long as the earth exists, planting and harvesting, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never stop.” Another translation says, “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night shall not cease.”
Remember now, it’s a cycle; seed, time, and then harvest. You have to sow it first, and then reap it. Summertime is usually a signal for the day time of our lives, the sowing time. So, the Bible says, be like the ants, prepare while you can. Don’t wait until opportunities to knock at your door first, and then you start preparing. We need to prepare ahead of time so that we won’t lose the opportunities when they present themselves to us.
In life, chances usually favor the prepared ones. So get ready to seize the opportunities ahead of you. Understand your next right move. The ants have realized that summer is not forever. It also understands that life is in seasons; therefore, they do not leave things to chance. Continue reading It’s Summertime | Lessons from The Ants
